Sleeping or not to How Great Thou Art A Cappella

Image
RantWoman seldom has trouble falling asleep, well except sometimes around the full moon when RantWoman is tempted to explore her identity as a werewolf. Mostly in fact RantWoman can fall asleep even before her body becomes properly horizontal.   Should RantWoman have trouble falling asleep, videos and music often help. In that spirit, an item served up in one of RantWoman’s media streams. RantWoman is moved by the youth and diversity of this old great.   RantWoman is so moved by the music or by the gifts of music for helping a body breathe in time, regardless of whether the body actually tries to sing, especially that part about staying on pitch. RantWoman is so moved that she seized a small burst of energy to try to collect sleep data before her body falls over again.   RantWoman especially appreciates the interaction of music and #breathing because this week’s Full Life challenge Well-being activity, focused breathing exercises, is mainly reminding RantWoman why s

sleep nutrition exercise or none of the above

The rundown on today with #fulllifechallenge notes   #sleep ? Who are we kidding? Probably about 2 hours in various chairs but went to computer lab and came home in time to grab barely 4 hours.   #mobilization? Did not get back stretches done before a meeting I forgot about. One of meeting participants is sick so we decided to meet by conference call.   Took a little bit of fiddling on cell phone to get everyone conferenced in but SO much travel time saved. Very productive call until the subject of sick sense of humor came up. Oh Boy!     Dial a Tirade and Repetitive Fixation Digression #1: LOTS of sighted people hate conference calls because they cannot see other participants. I LIKE conference calls because everyone is on the same footing visually, but then one has to go all accessibility zealot on the situation and worry about people who are deaf or have hearing loss.   Dial-a-Tirade and Repetitive Fixation Digression #2 directed at no one in particula

Data collection from Twitter

Trying something different in the data collection front. October 16 Twitter thread https://twitter.com/DoreneFC/status/1052440809088458755 Almost 5 hours of sleep October 17 twitter thread for #fulllifechallenge https://twitter.com/DoreneFC/status/1052587861147508736 almost 6 hours of sleep October 18 twitter thread for #fulllifechallenge Almost 6 hours of #sleep https://twitter.com/DoreneFC/status/1053037485947645952

Leaves white cane day grocery outlet

Saturday Night Low sodium v8 in microwave. Insulated container. Perfect evening beverage. Graduated to water.   Bed at 3.but up before 8 almost 5 hours. Too numb for some emotional flares but turned out to be good reasons to just let things evolve slowly for now.   Aim to go to bed earlier because on Sundays time constraints as far as going back to sleep.   Sunday bus to U district. Realized mid ride that I left my stainless steel water bottle at home. Decided to go to CVS and found a bpa free water bottle with a smart lid system: the container can be opened to drink from without detaching anything and the whole tope can be unscrewed for cleaning. Did not make it in time for Adult education hour. Feel bad about missing the speaker but also voting with my feet about vexations.   Business Meeting was surprisingly manageable. Interesting that some key people were not there.   “cooked” at QFC: big grinder sandwich, bag of salad mix, pumpkin pie on

Update with some intervening dates missing

Short version:   In bed a little after 2. Awake about 7:30. 5+HOURS.   Personal Goal for   maybe sometime after this Whole Life Challenge thing is at least six hours.   Tonight for grins instead of trying to type on my phone with no autorotate (ask me what that is if interested) I decided to wait to type until I am ata keyboard. Instead I scrolled back in history and will leave a couple comments in separate posts. I do the separate posts so the comments stay reasonably findable and related to the items they are responding to.   K thank you for the reminder that not everyone is totally steeped in and at ease with the computer. I cheerlead for various people. These days I can often tell people what to look for even if I cannot see it and I myself just do a lot of trial and error. With trial and error, when I find something that works I tend to try to repeat it at least once to increase the chances that I will remember it the next time. There. Enough cheerleadi

Sleep Rules, Friday data

RantWoman is embarking on an 8-week exercise called the Whole Life Challenge. The Whole Life UI has big #a11y issues on every device and browser / screen reader combination RantWoman has tried. So part of rantWoman’s whole life challenge is going to be addressing these performance lacunae while also working through the 7 areas where one gets to score oneself and share one’s experience with teammates. Here are RantWoman’s personal goals and rules about sleep, one of the 7 areas. RantWoman is part of a team with the word Laughing in the team name. So… RantWoman promises more, and hopefully better edited comments about the accessibility issues. RantWoman’s life is already beset by other technological and existential hiccups such as migration to Windows 10 and accompanying upgrade of multiple pieces of accessibility software. RantWoman aims to do the best she can to stay more or less within the vicinity of clear points and not get all fractal about EVERY single dang thread. Maybe

If it's Thursday it must be voices in my head

On sleep and the voices in my head: 1. Alas, I run my screen reader  pretty fast but not as fast as other people I know of. This keeps me  from falling asleep early in the day when I am fresh but increases the  odds I will fall asleep when I am tired. 2. Due to software upgrades I am working part of the time with a voice that I was used to from reading a book about Istanbul by Orhan Pamuk on my Kindle. So I get to try to get work done while not letting my mind wander off to the Bosporus. 3. Danged if every new tool I try doesn't come with need to explain to someone something about accessibility. This rant goes here because of something called Whole Life Challenge that encourages people to track a number of life details online including sleep. 4. Bedtime reading still the Hannah Breece (sp) book. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my digital talking book reader with big tactile buttons and no screen for light. The world is owed more about audio and braille and sources for content, but tonight we

Wednesday Wide awake but not in time

Bedtime 2:30 more or less. Awake 7:30 Wound up ditching in-person for both meetings on the calendar. One way to handle stress but it still reminds me how much I want an exercise bike.

For Tuesday fight rage and grief with silliness WONKY DONKEY MUSIC VIDEO with sleep data

Monday night Watching videos. Wake up and go to bed a little after 2. Sleep until a little after 7 Could have slept longer but did not go back to bed.

Monday: October rolls in

RantWoman's current earworm, noted here for cleansing brain of the torrents of yuck oozing into one's psyche and for thoughts of rest on a road and freedom regardless Darius Rucker: Wagon Wheel, naked url for technical reasons RantWoman will troubleshoot one of these days. https://youtu.be/hvKyBcCDOB4 Bedtime sometime around 2 am. Still reading the Hannah Breen book. Great story but cassette format on USB so the navigation is not going so well for RantWoman. Woke up about 7 am.  Hungry. No snacks since supper. Better that way though leftovers all still more salt than I usually eat. Not terrible for a Monday.
