One long math in-joke with crappy audio but somewhat laugh-worthy How They Fool Ya (live) | Math parody of Hallelujah

Image
I think I made it to 5.6 hours of sleep AND still made it to an 8:30 medical appointment. Kitty has appointment with regular vet on Wednesday if life has not run its course by then. I am VERY grateful for kind words when I reached out many directions.  A friend advises that women don't make as much money as men because they never apply for jobs they are not qualified for. I am chewing on that. And a sunny day is NEVER a bad time to troll Republicans on Twitter. PS test was MUCH easier to deal with than last time thanks to lots of things to keep body from getting tired in awkward positions. Bach cello suites on the sound system helped SO MUCH

Wayfinding and The Sorcerer's Apprentice-ContraBassoon Solo-MSO-Michael Rowlands Jr.

5.0 hours of sleep. This after getting up to have a good cry and email my peeps about sick cat. I feel grateful and as well held as one can be in such circumstances. speaking of masks and not wanting to kill anyone because I am tired of the subject, some indications that masking would again be a good idea. Bleah. And thank heavens for sighted people who are more fearless than I am about stopping traffic so I can cross the street. People are SUPPOSED to stop when they see a white cane. That does not change the physics if they don't and I REALLY don't want my friends getting killed on my behalf. Other than that it's shaping up to be indictment week.

Not mentioning all the reasons to need Black in spite of joy tooMarc Mellits: "Black" for bassoon quartet

Image
6.0 hours of sleep. A great blessing in the form of "kidnapping" in a black car, wonderful food, conversation about, among other things, everyone's experiences with "My doctor got paid to do that to me" bruising.  I HAVE to take cat to vet. I feel horrible for not doing it sooner. That is enough.

Dang Chainsaws

Image
This is a Before the Chainsaws snow day photo  5.6 glorious hours of sleep before I gave in to the chainsaws. The two trees on the left in this picture are no more! And that is just the beginning of the day. A mutant paratransit advocacy issue. My sister getting hit IN THE CROSSWALK by some kind of work vehicle. A hysterically funny birthday Barbie movie worlds in collision inaccessibility story. And the cat is not doing so well and ... Happy Friday. Happy #DisabilityPrideMonth

The day needs a whole concerto: Bassoon Concerto in F major, Op.75: Carl Maria von Weber

Image
5.3 hours of sleep. It should have been more but that means going to bed earlier and TRYING to ease up on my various news fixes. Today was among other things, go out and enjoy sun, transit, eye dr "FUN!?!?!" Target grocery aisles had several things I was looking for at amazing prices. Kitty is not doing well and I do not have money for vet bills so....MUCH light needed.      And enjoy the concerto. PS. Thou shalt not go to the computer lab at 11 pm. But sleep blog post was not going to happen. So I will TRY not to overdo various things.

Trae Crowder on the earworm of the week: Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town”

Image
5.3 hours of sleep. I sleep much better after a good laugh. And I am still herding words together for longer posts.

An old item from the Drafts folder: Devo - Whip It (Video)

Image
5.6 hours of sleep. Eat a good breakfast means get to bed in time to dawdle before a set meeting time. Guess who was watching Ukraine videos half the night.

Image
4.6 hours of sleep. Just GO TO BED. Do not get sucked into videos, especially not endless commentary about the national earworm of the week.

More Contrabassoons! Five Red Hot Duets for Two Contrabassoons: III

Image
5.1 hours of sleep. Worship and washed hair. Maybe that's enough since I want to write more in other places.

Volcano fearmongering? Horrible Today: Live Footage Giant Magma Yellowstone Just Erupt, Yellows...

Image
5.6 hours of sleep. LOTS of activity. I think tomorrow I will be tired. This moment of scientist voiced volcano fearmongering--or at least the headline  does not quite tell the story. No one expects that the yellowstone caldera is going to erupt anytime soon, but it is a useful distraction from,,,

More low low woodwind exuberance from the FartingBedpost. Contrabassoon Birthday

Image
6.2 hours of sleep. I LOVE oatmeal porridge with peanut butter and banana chips but it makes me want to go back to bed. Anyway, took trash out. Fetched eyedrops. Meditated on enormity of some tasks. Waded into more of "Try that in a Small Town." Exercise is a gift and tomorrow is a full day.

Try that in a ball gown

Image
5.0 hours of sleep. Going back to bed happened but it was not enough ahead of a medical appointment I bungled scheduling about. Transportation: un remarkable. Lots of "unremarkable" scan results, but not only. Tha handsome image in the picture is Jason Aldean country music star. Brain cells are not here for concise extemporization so Good night.

Reminiscent of High school orchestra. Plus a delightfully juvenile channel name Bassoon Birthday

Image
4.2 hours of sleep. Woke up WAY too early. I might as well have just gone back to bed since I was not really alert enough for 9 am zoom. And "The farting bedposts" Youtube channel name  is a lovely diversion from Trumparama, Iceland volcano, etc.

World is safer with bassoon music: Bach, Concerto italiano Fagott Klasse Bozen.

Image
6.0 hours of sleep. Counting go back to bed. FUN testing session this morning. Still need to keep exercising.

Humans good for something. A Tiger Begged Soldiers for Help. When they Realized the Reason....

Image
6.2 hours of sleep. Endearing story of zooligist figuring out how to help humans rescue tiger cubs who got stuck in their den because of a flood. And morning grocery shopping on a week day is quite the old people experience. Yikes on the seeing badly front but not as nerve-wracking as toddlers who need to push their own minicarts.

Musical elephants: Camille Saint-Saëns: The Elephant for Contrabassoon

Image
6.2 hours of sleep. Wow. And I got my compost and part of my trash taken out. PS you get the Contrabassoons because I did not save the heartrending humans rescue the baby elephant from a roaring river video that I was looking at. The other elephants were grateful.

Music for a Birthday Red Hot Duets for Two Contrabassoons

Image
5.6 hours of sleep. Achievements for the day besides a trip to see Mom and a lovely supper in the dining room with someone I had not seen since before the pandemic. --Wash hair. Vote in primary. I also want kudos for earlier in the week figuring out that if I put my phone on speaker the relocated keypad will work so I can retrieve my voicemail. Lurches of technology being a funky thing to reflect on for one's birthday.

Calm Calm Josef Suk - Intermezzo "Blind Musicians"

Image
7.2 hours of sleep including going back to bed and getting out of bed TWO MINUTES late to start a Zoom meeting. How many reasons to be wired.  And how helpful to grab what Youtube sent to try to calm down.

Will 9 saxophones playing Vivaldi's WINTER help summer brain settle ...or are the saxophones too much of an anachronism for Baroque music?

Image
4.6 hours of sleep. A badly timed meeting so morning chores will have to wait. Ugh. Enjoy

5.6 hours of sleep. Ukraine Friends more agitated than average but at least I was home for worship. Tomorrow I WILL call the CPAP place. Ah adulting.

Too many beet and kale chips with a bit of Hedningarna - Täss'on Nainen

Image
The CPAP machine said 4.2 hours of sleep, at 5 am. I wound up finding a WONDERFUL get acquainted conversation at 7 am. I guess I ONLY had FOUR more video conferences today. In between events I went to the pharmacy. And the pharmacy texted and said some eyedrops were ready. It was worth the walk. The eye drops were not ready. On the way I decided I have been on nutritional virtue overload and ...and downloaded a fast food app I have been avoiding. And after 10 days of Zooms, I am exhausted! And it's July. Too many people I knew and loved died in July on top of one person who told me why it was amazing she did not cry during annual session and another Friend who could only speak respectfully of their mother after she died. So throw in a NATO summit and my diet of regional geopolitical intrigue, and here is some Finnish folk music.

Iceland has an earthquake and seemingly an eruption brewing

4.6 hours of sleep And for everyone who needs a break from heated politics, hot wars, and way overheated climate, may I recommend volcanoes! A short update from today with lava shots

Sleep with help VOCES8 & The King's Singers: Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel) - Billy Joel...

Image
6.9 hours of sleep. Almost respectable. And taking a shower and getting to bed all washed really helped. Now about trying to make connections in Zoom. Or to heck with Zoom because the rest of life....

Pronouns and Voices: The King's Singers - The Hills of Aberfeldy (Ed Sheeran)

4.6 hours of sleep. More sleep would not be terrible but grab what we have. Got my report task done. Have time now to settle and season

Bedtime Viewing: Old news BUT Bunker Grandpa's pitiful parade | Break the Fake | TVP World

6 hours of sleep!  No worries about waking up in time to vote but just in time to hear the roll call of affiliate votes. The percentages do not tend to very much from the individual votes but somehow it feels inclusive to hear all the different affiliates even if I think Iforgot to send my votes to one of the affiliates I belong to. Also ordered some more Kale chips and stored up some exercise videos. I want strength training as demonstrated by a somewhat rounder woman with gray hair instead of these lean male muscle gods. If that is the worst problem of my day... Oh wait. it's not. More separately.

Because why wouldn't geyser matters help about a sick cat. Yellowstone Volcano Update — July 2023 — Dynamic activity on Geyser Hill

Image
5.6 hours of sleep. Up in time for affiliate roll call for last series of needed ACB votes. Kind of an end of event let down since I will ignore the Zoom version of the banquet. I am worried about my cat. She is sick. I do not have money for a lot of vet intervention. Stay tuned.

The word snowflake won't help.

Image
The cat in one of her go to Zoom meetings moods  6.9  blessed hours of sleep. The cat survived the fireworks. I am not sure where she ran and hid but the last spell was LOUD and right at 2 am. As for the word snowflake, it is a great blessing to have people one feels able to run one's bad ideas by. The word snowflake will go away. The words bullying and self-reflection will not. And someone I had been trying to figure out how to reach out to called ME today.

How do I say nicely "Please stop being such a bleeping snowflake"?

Image
Yesterday's lunch because I wanted to grump about product labelling and online shopping  4.2 hours of sleep. I went to bed early enough theoretically to sleep more before morning zoom. Or so I thought. Now it's evening and there are too bleeping many fireworks booms and cat has gone to hide but at least I am here in case she wants to cuddle. As for wanting to elder the seemingly unelderable, I wouldn't know anything about ... Happy Fourth of July in all due patriotic ambivalence, And anyone who needs more anxieties gets to wonder whether Putin will blow up the Zap... NPP tomorrow and .... MAGA.... But for tonight count blessings and try to find better words than snowflake...

Speaking of inaccessible graphics

Image
If I rely on a screen reader alone, I have no idea this is part of a pizza ad. 5.6 hours of sleep. Maybe I will get sleep habit settled into something more normal. Or maybe I will stay up too late tonight doing laundry. At least I was up in time to vote yes to make a strong statement about a medical provider qualification issue. THANKFULLY I figured out how to lower computer screen so built in camera shows more of my face

Sunday Sunday and Scott Hostetler - Poulenc Trio

Image
5.9 hours of sleep AND up in time for 9 am CT event. And there was time to Zoom worship while the convention was at lunch. Boy do I know how to party. And tomorrow, the general session starts at 8:30 CT

Disability Pride and Bassooney Tunes (Bassoon Quintet)

Image
4.3 hours of sleep. We will not discuss from when to when especially since I need to go to bed early to be ready for events in Central time. VERY cool blind people Zoom  Happy #DisabilityPrideMonth. OK God....
