Dogwood, before I forget what it is.

Image
A big dogwood tree in full bloom 4.5 hours of sleep Deliberately go to bed without trying to type everything on my mind. The daily Kyiv / war worship has dwindled to barely 20 on Sundays. Maybe it is more other days but it is so buttoned down that ..... I mean to go find the statement people worked awhile ago  I couldn't stand it at the beginning and THANKFULLY it evolved. Other than that the picture is from a visit with Mom, in the garden at Ida Culver. It will be SO hard to say goodbye to the garden but things are still in the design and permitting stage. And compline is co-ed tonight, with modern FEMALE pronouns. I will cope.

Compost out. Fridge and floor still need help. Contraforte Bach Cello Suite 2

Image
\ Almost 8 hours of sleep. Starting at 4 am What a waste of really glorious sunshine! Tonight in hopes of avoiding temptation to stay up until 4 again, it's THE LAPTOP at home. I need to fix up and .practice some stuff. White house Correspondents Dinner so dignified and maybe a little understated. I AGREE about the importance of local journalists even if it's social media.

Motivational Calamity, Sun Brahms Cello Sonata, Contraforte

Image
7.3 hours of sleep! Starting at 4 am. Blame the laundry and in particular one washing machine known not to drain properly and another washer dryer stack out of order.. That load took THREE dryer cycles to get dry. I should have chosen a hotter dryer cycle sooner because I think one can evaporate water without shrinking clothes. The laundry lock got busted so I did not even want to leave and go hang up my socks. Do not forget the hangover from the cybersecurity vids the night before or the vids while doing laundry about Russia letting Bangladesh pay for a nuclear power plant in remimbi, the Chinese currency and commentary about maybe China will just grab back the part of Machuria that Russia seized late in the 19th century. Why should sleep disruption be ONLY about hanging up socks to dry? Anyway it was a GORGEOUS day. Since I was out doing errands and otherwise a motivational calamity, I texted and invited myself to go visit two friends in Lynnwood. EXCELLENT Move. It was SO good to se

5.2 hours of sleep. The good news: 10 minutes to become alert before a 10 am Zoom. Will I JUST GO DO LAUNDRY tonight??? Last night blame 2 hours of cyber security videos to prepare for a conversation about accessibility and internet voting.  Fools rush in where...have been trying to tread for... This is a fun video. I don't even necessarily want to eat cake, but this icing definitely sounds lovely.

A whole new dimension of woodwind nerdery: Not a Contrabassoon. A Contraforte. HKO Screen - Lewis Lipnick

Image
4.2 hours of sleep. Crap. That means I either hit my Wednesday techno zoom OR go back to bed and get more sleep. WHAT? Go to bed earlier??? Shorten the to-do list? Ummm Happy Wednesday. And yes, I like the sound of the contraforte more than the sound of the contrabassoon.

Every State as Piano Notes???

5.2 hours of sleep. Weird stabbing burning pain in left foot and I went back to sleep.. Nothing to stab or burn Not everything on Youtube is profound or should be repeated. Enjoy once

For the new computer: TIMPANI SOLO, ETUDE #1 – SCHERZO BY TOM FREER

Image
5.2 hours of sleep. I could have gone back to bed but somehow life catches up. I am TOUCHED because I have a new computer to work on. It has a HUGE very clear screen. It is MUCH faster than my laptop. The software is current. BOY do I have things to play with. Other than that it's wind down time for a year-long thing and I got my video done tonight. It's too long. If someone has suggestions about what to cut.... And in honor of all that is percolating in my inbox, let's just keep the musical interlude simple and oddly topical.

Clean sheets and clean hair but a gap: The 2020 Song - A Year In Review We Didn't Start The Fire Parody

Image
4 hours night before last and also too early for event last n ight SIX glorious hours even with clean sheets rituals and late night shower which needed an extra step because of an armpit full of soap. CLEAN sleeping was so worth it AND I made it out of bed in time for QM worship sharing. It is cloudy today so MAYBE my mom will feel okay going outside for a walk without bright blazing sun. But now it looks like a lot of  glare. I SO wish impending move could make getting together easier but right now it looks like no. And post pandemic I don't go anywhere in person so I exercise MUCH less. Part of laundry joy was just movement after sitting all day. MUST do something about the walking but tonight it may just be more laundry or deal with trash. And neighbor brought me over BEAUTIFUL Eid feast. I am so humble. And I forget whether this version of Billy Joel as just mediocre so enjoy or not.

New Musical motif We Didn't Start the Fire (Star Wars parody) [2017]

Image
4.5 hours of sleep, miraculously. Up in time to make an 8:30 in person event. And we didn't start the fire adapts so well for different eras. And NO I don't get all the later Star Wars movie references.

Beer in the culture war: Liberal Redneck - Bud Light Boycott

Image
6.9 hours of sleep. In spite of not enough exercise yesterday. No Snacking after dinner. Today's video because I did not find any respectable parody vids of We didn't start the fire. I love Traee Crowder.  PS. It's BEER folks, not red, not blue, not purple or rainbow. The color is Green as in cash.

Tears, Toenail scissors and ALONE TOGETHER with BASSOON, ACCORDION & BASS

Image
Did I really only sleep 4 hours AND miss my usual techno zoom? Blame late night snacking and deciding I needed just to DO IT about a couple not brain intensive life details as well as some writing. Today's path to virtue involved packing up a bunch of Amazon plastic packing materials and empty shoeboxes for trash day AND finding TWO pairs of toenail scissors. I owe the world meditations on boxes and packaging and NOT saving them forever.  The pairs of toenail scissors were almost together. One clearly got sent there by the cat. I THOUGHT I had stowed the other one differently. The tears came an awkward. My mom's youngest brother in law has dementia and it is REALLY wearing on my aunt.Easter Sunday early in the morning my uncle somehow got out of the house and made it part way down the block before he fell. Someone found him quickly and my aunt woke up to lots of flashing lights. My aunt says the CO mountains are calling her. and she is going to leave my uncle in care of my cous

I don't need to EAT pudding. I just need good presentation of a recipe. Easy Chocolate Pudding Recipe

6.2 hours of sleep. Now if I could do that every night. After my marathon tech support call the other day about my hotspot, I almost forget I would need to allot extra time this morning to make sure my laptop connects before I do telehealth therapy. IT WORKED. As for therapy, lively BUT left out some points on my mind in the zone of DO BETTER NEXT TIME.

The Cookie food group and "Call Me Maybe" arrangement for bassoon, clarinet, and oboe

Image
Almost 5 hours of sleep counting afternoon nap and not counting several spell s of just dozing in chair. Noting on calendar when I remember to water plants feels like a GOOD idea. Now about splitting and repotting TWO big clumps of mother in law tongue. I did turn some ingredients into food. Today is a be a grownup and do paperwork day. And I have 4 places to be on Saturday and will be in person with free lunch in town! Weird how some topics take up a TON of energy even when one thinks one is clear.. And cookie food group included rich but surprisingly crumbly treats from when I stopped to buy bananas on the way home.

Orthodox Easter, for people who didn't get enough resurrection last week. Stevie Wonder - Sir Duke (1976) arr. for bassoon ensemble

Image
5.2 hours of sleep.  Amnd this in spite of ... until the wee hours. Showering in the morning was a good idea. I had GOOD walks but they are reminding me that in the time of pandemic where everyone retreated to their own abodes and went "let's ferment something," I got a little out of condition and spoiled by Zoom. Happy Orthodox Easter and  Julia Esquivel: They have threatened us with Resurrection

5 ish hours of sleep. I think I really need to set my clocks so I have some kind of alarm or at least know what time it is from whatever is playing when I wake up Today was probably my last call with the great woman I have been "mentoring" for Blind Leaders. BLDP I have learned as much from her as the other way around. It was really gratifying to hear her talk about gaining confidence and especially from one of the case studies we had to team work about. Plus she was the one who herded us all into time slots and managed a tech blip. Awesome to have blindness aware tech support and neither of us has any sympathy for a moment of "it's too hard" over something that did not seem hard to either of us, especially since work often brings things one has to learn on the fly even if it takes extra time. And blindness local group has cool new energy and figured out that we can probably get to some elegant ways to go hybrid without as much fuss and muss as the first suggest

Aviso de limpieza 3/31/2023

Image
5.9 hours of sleep. Reading a book even on my iPad turned Kindle reader with dimmed room light is MUCH gentler than the full screen in brightly lit room. Today I spent TWO freaking hours dealing with a tech support issue that gets written up elsewhere. Then I went out in glorious sunshine. There is no quirky musical interlude. Instead, photographic results of what is clearly a recent homeless sweep, as also indicated by the Spanish version of notification, at my eye level not in particularly large type. I am not surprised. Lots of Blind people from the Lighthouse like to go to McDonalds for lunch and car campers have trouble keeping things tidy. Happy Friday. How many campersand vehicles of idiosyncratic configuration do you not see? Fashionable New Concrete barriers too

Timeline Cleanse: Bach cello suite in G Major, Vahan Khourdoian Bassoon

Image
5 ish hours of sleep. One thing kept leading to another. A hard-boiled egg late in the day and no precise supper after a meeting jangled food schedule. No, DO NOT try to play with new (used) laptop. DO NOT try to write all the emails and blog posts on your mind. Do not even go on about layers and layers of ... And remember all those wind players in orchestra or grabbing pieces written for strings get to transpose. Oh Goodie.

Nerd with Time on hands, contrabassoon edition Unexplored Depths: Contrabassoon Extensions

Image
not quite 5 hours of sleep. Blame late night chocolate and the ins and outsof various techno toys and nourishing but unsettling conversations. I don't think I have ever seen a contrabassoon anywhere but Youtube. I don't think my dad knew anyone who even owned one. Still it's nice to know there are contrabassoon options for nerds with time on their hands.

On stage: Fish Phase (1975) for 2 contrabassoons and goldfish

Image
5 ish hours of sleep.  I think I need to set some clocks so radio comes on automatically and I know what time it is without having to get out of bed. Other than that, this item is a bit of a timeline cleanse. It's pretty visual but the contrabassoonists do eventual join the goldfish onstage.

Bassoon Imperialism by arrangement Astor Piazzolla - Tango suite for 2 Guitars (arr. for bassoon ensemble

The CPAP machine says 6 hours. More would not be terrible. Still recovering from family food fest for Easter. Still full and working with the leftovers I brought home. Turns out Mom did not want some I would have left her because of a small surgery tomorrow. And my sister made an ocean of green bean casserole. I would never make it especially without extra mushroom soup but no mushrooms but somehow I enjoy it when my sister makes it. Today I did not even leave my apartment until after 6 then I let a friend regale me with all her really complex quest for cures for her strabismus also known as connected to problems that it would have been desirable to address in her childhood. Other than that trying to save the world that is if trying to introduce nuance into Twitter tumult counts. And this bit is REALLY fun even if hte pieces where originally written for guitar.

Christ is Risen--except not in Russian and some other languages until next week. ´PLANET DAMNATION´ for Solo Timpani and Tape by John Psathas (

Image
4.32 hours of sleep. Trying to cleanse mental palate but at least did not start on food prep for family feast this morning: carrot coins in OJ, Asparagus, strawberries. Fighting caffeine. Last night's foraty into caffeination was MAGNIFICENT chocolate covered ice cream bar. And this post is as much about the title for Christ making it through Easter Saturday as the following.

Washed hair and Rossini: Barbiere di Seviglia - Six Arias for two bassoons

Image
5.2 hours of sleep If the great younger woman I am supposed to be mentoring had responded sooner about delaying our zoom I would have stayed in bed longer. Washed hair. Acquired things I promised to bring tomorrow along with appropriately green bananas and NO peeps because they just do not aoppeal. Jesus is dead in the Easter sense and the two black TN reps are expelled at least until Monday and maybe the Barber of Seville is appropriate.

When in doubt, try Marimba Concerto No.3"Notre Dame de Paris" for Six Mallets Marimba Soloi...

Not quite 4 hours of sleep. I had a ride the bus destination at 10 am. I agreed to zoom host a hybrid care committee meeting. It turned out just my phone was enough. I took my laptop but I realized I need to play with how to avoid feedback and i can do that at home. Yeah nerdiness. Meeting was scheduled in a room and had to be relocated. The "it s over there" directions were sufficient to locate the courtesy coffee. AND there was yummy mexican food as reward. Here is somx six mallot marimba for the gorgeous day and to take my mind off the pollen. Party down.

Laugh Hard Sleep well? Trump's Wild Indictment | Mar-a-Lago Meltdown

Hallway by my apartment 5.0 hours of sleep. Ugh. Today's emotional energy suck: The TN House of Representatives expelling uppity Democratic representatives. Also last practice session for the Leadership Challenge. VERY touching thank yous which is nice since there was no feedback a lot of the year. And the floor got waxes yesterday without me even NOTICING.  AWESOME improvement over the day before when the floor crew showed up not really announced with his masking tape and orders not to go anywhere for two hours while they scrubbed.  If I had been better dressed I would have fled before the floor scrubbing, but that did not happen. And a bit of comedy as a break from musical quirkiness.

Meet them at the door laughing--with a little Mozart: Allegro - Sonata For Bassoon And Cello in B-Flat Major | Kroth, ...

about 5.4 hours of sleep AND awake in time for most of the techno Zoom EVEN THOUGH I also did Kyiv worship last night. The subject line is part of the FCNL witness wednesday prompt. And here's the Mozart

Arraignment with Etruscan phonetics on the side

6.5 hours  o sleep  The world survived DJT's arraignment. And in a non-musical interlude, an Etruscan language clip

5.5 hours of sleep. Grocery order. Still not hitting the right stride about mix of frozen and other but definitely hit some nice new veggie non refrigerated options. I think I am supposed to cheerlead every time I have to explain to a new Amazon driver how to get where they need to go. But ... and if that is my worst problem. I did get some paperwork turned in on time and then I still feel half crappy about why is it such a production, not even including worse vision than.... Happy mondy. Happy arraignment eve with some nice baroque music.

Modern Edude TIMPANI SOLO, – SCHERZO BY TOM FREER

Image
6.5 hours of sleep. Wow! Okay so I missed an adult ed and a bunch of surging blog themes. AND I still owe  the world PAPERWORK But I turned ingredients into food. And I found my powdered milk, right where I had put the new package and right where i did not recognize the new package the other night. Welcome to kitchens while blind or something. Even though I was in a bangy mood, this piece is oddly calming and definitely simpler than other snippets lurking in my drafts here.

Zarathustra seems about right for the vibe: Also Sprach and BWBQ Theme Song, The Breaking Winds Bassoon Quartet

5.6 hours of sleep. Virtue in the form of taking out a lot of trash and compost. --Plotted Easter with my sister. I would rather the ashes of a recently deceased pet did not need to come to dinner but if it will give brother in law comfort....Any God that can pull of the rapture can probably reassemble any bodies needed including a faithful chihuahua. --Virtue also in the form of washed hair and good intentions about more walking tomorrow.
