Saturday!

Only 4 hours of sleep. New excellent bus bench with graffiti Sigh. Went to bed too late and didn't go back to bed. Sigh.

Writing group! And other invitations

about 6.5 hours of sleep. After laundry. Dog Walker lights for the new shoes It looks like I skipped a day. I think it's because at the end of PacYM I did one errand and then went home and flopped.  In addition to accumulated email my FGC writign workshop wants to keep writing together AND I have another Bible study at 8 freaking am on Wednesdays. Wonderful women. I try not to zoom in my sleepwear. So i hope I will make it. Getting spoke by Amazon delivery and my sister and I agree there is time to pray about STUFF before Ida Culver house construction...

The Fluffy Purple Chicken, not quite back into the regular groove one day out from a month of Zoom

Image
6.5 hours of sleep, achieved by coming home after the laundry quarters and cat food errand, doing Zoom bible study by phone instead of computer, talking on the phone a lot to friends I haven't talked to in awhile and puttering and getting to bed earlier and going back to bed after the first spell of feeding the cat etc. Official Zoom gathering chaperone and mocha mug gear Laundry has to happen tonight; otherwise I will not have the right clean clothes to stay cool in.. I think there are morning things that were supposed to be on my calendar but they happened without me More to say but not here. Brain is full of things that need to make it out of fingers while they are fresh

Crepe Myrtles

almost 6 hours. Yeah. Skip the morning worship and tend to chores. So now plenary and 3 minute reports about multiple forms of Quaker wonderfulness. And remembrance of Robert Moses and the Algebra project. And too many shootings in Seattle and sharpshooters from CO winning Olympic gold so I can troll about miss me with second amendmend zealtry. Also January 6 hearings. So it's me...standing in the need of prayer. And here is some lovely Crepe Myrtle which I might never have noticed were it not for Twitter and Atlanta Quaker  Crepe Myrtle

Sweet Honey in The Rock - Wade in the Water

4.5 hours of sleep.  Wake up in time for worship with people mostly I don't know. Season a message to follow up on yesterday. Yesterday there was an ouch. I winced. Others were more affected. There was time and space to debrief and ouches from a different direction in the chat.  And this morning I remembered the meat of my message even if not the story the message got hung on. Good morning Literature brain!

No Blind prayer Warriors zoom doesn't mean no blind prayer warrior prayer needs

5 ish hours of sleep  go to bed early. Wake up earlier than desired and still have to hurry for zoom at 8:30 title involves a job search and ...

Once more in Zoom ....

5ish hours of sleep. Somehow I made it to bed earlier which only means waking up and still not thinking it's reasonable to go back to sleep before morning plans.

The latest in mail order footwear experiments

4-ish hours of sleep before bounding out of bed for...special business meeting regarding elections. But first why does being out late in the afternoon make it so hard to go to bed at a reasonable hour? Oh wait: it's also almost THE FULL MOON. Imagine a song of the wild, the meoly of a wolf call.  No wait, audio described tours of national parks.. no wait evaluations from 3 previous events and another one I said I would zoom help about no wait ONE THING AT A TIME. Like should I mention both the Black Panthers and the American Foundation of the Blind in a one-minute video about what the ADA means to me. Anyway the needed motion passed almost unanimously.  New brown oxfords. They Fit. Who needs flash? And except for missing one key financial detail of interest, it's probably not a calamity that I kept dozing off during the wrap up reports. The reports were delivered in such a genuine tone of sincerity and gushy enthusiasm that if I had been describing what I was wearing I would h

Best Birthday Present this year

Image
Yellow HiVis Disability Mobilty Project vest  5 ish hours of sleep. No drinking the last of my morning tea at like 8 pm was not a good idea. But instead of sitting all morning while zooming, I tackled many tasks. More are needed. The title: in other words, "Dress like a Traffic Cone" is the latest shriek of fashion for those both allergic to getting run over and prone to blunt translations of Russian idioms. Birthday was last week.

Audio description rocks

Image
5 ish hours of sleep. I had to make myself go to bed. Feet more swollen than average. Couldn't possibly have anything to do with zooming or computing all day and not enough exercise. Birthday cake from days ago SO this morning while Zooming general session I finally turned the pot of beans on the stove and the stock from the last of the chicken and assorted veggies in varying conditions into soup. I also found the rest of the tuna and pasta salads. Taking out the compost has to wait another day. or at least until later, 3 zooms from now Yes, just wo digits. There's burn ban. Not individual candles. AUdio description? an artform to make the visual elements of many kinds of performances more comprehensible to blind people. Can anyone tell I am still zooming with blind people?

Screen reader Screen share

Image
5 ish hours of sleep. Walk cheerfully--in whichever size shoe fits better I MEANT to go to bed earlier. I went home instead of more writing after I submitted "my" resolution and did a fast read of a report I contributed too. Then I succumbed to late night comedy which is SO helpful. Then sleep which took longer to come than it should once I got to bed. Then thank you hungry cat I bounded out of bed in time to hear the day's opening ACB session. And don't even try to do two events at once. Just don't try. But in the voices in the head realm blind people do need to share audio so everyone knows how to find the elements on the screen.

Death by Powerpoint on a global scale.

Image
Somewhere close to 6 hours of sleep. A plant, two forms of water and some mail order shoes I hope fit Accomplished by dumping all the birthday presents in the STAR Center, helping my mom with urgent need for a restroom, taking the food leftovers upstairs to my apartment, making a bunch of phone calls to deal with my head is exploding issues and then deciding just to go back to bed so I can get up bright and early for the next Zoom festival on the calendar. Yes, the birthday presents are water in several forms. The present is as much the delivery as what's int eh containers Death by Powerpoint gets its own words in many other places.

Ouch x 2 at least

Image
probably about 4.5 hours of sleep Friday Night Probably about the same last night. The cat's saturday photo op Meals and sleep and caffeine are all discombobulated. Bible study is worth it. So was the interest group about the FGC racial justice ministry. People liked what I did at community night, There wound up being many tender moments even though I was one of only two households to sign up at first. I offered to come up with a whole hour of material but I am glad for more diversity. Ouch x 2 at Bible study and one toward the end had to make singers and memorial wait while we tackled problems of the living No visuals today. Oops. Found the cat's weekly photo op.

Bible Study for the unshowered

5 ish hours of sleep. Late night calories may or may not help about falling asleept. Main reason for short sleep: I said I would convene Annual Session because regular covenor not available. IT was a gift to me and I hope to others. But more sleep still would have been good. And on Zoom probably no one cares whether one has bathed but I have my standards and showered before tackiling the rest of the day.

Reeses cups and Popcorn? That's a balanced diet, right?

4+ hours of sleep and up early for Bible study. Silly me for offering to fill in host for tomorrow. Birthday feasting included popcorn, Reese's cups and lentil brownies. Other zoom meditation s get saved for otehr posts.

Two armpits full of soap.

Image
over SEVEN hours of sleep.Does the world need more words just because I get more sleep? The Queen of Spade interested again in cuddling no thank you heat wave I went to bed earlier than average and slept almost 5 hours. Then it was breakfast time. Then back to bed in blithe disregard of being due in person at 10 am. I woke up in time to do the 10 am commitment by phone and it was GREAT because then I could also do a webinar about walkability and community engagement all before dishwashing and a shower. The title is about thinking I was done showering and realizing I still had soap in both armpits. Eureka! What if weight loss is due to getting my chocolate fix from lentil brownies?. Give up on good intentions re going to Grocery Outlet to probably save money on maple syrup. Order delivery from Whole Foods. Spen the minimum to get free delivery. Try cashew Milk gelatto. Start lentils today. Make lentil borwnies tomorrow. I don't actually think the hurts like hell issues are only rot

Paquito D'Rivera - Two Pieces for Bassoon and Piano

Probably not earworm of the week but I am really having fun with this Youtube channel  3+ hours of sleep. The streak was too good to last.  Also I had medical appointments starting at 9 am and had to figure in shower and travel. The medical stuff is all data. Thank you lentil brownies and not being able to eat out or willing to try on the bus for pandemic weight loss. Note to self: need to do a better job of timing supper and evening zooms. I think I am willing to buy that some hurts like hell stuff IS arthritic. Changing how I carry my phone seems to help. Also sleeping more because today in addition to not sleeping enough I woke up with a terrible crick in my neck. I need to either get a shopping cart or get used to more online ordering than I care about. In the meantime I think I will tell my family that delivery of a couple cases of LaCroix and a couple gallons of distilled water for my CPC machine would be a great birthday present. The picture above is not architectural. It is ger

Obituaries yes but Henrik Widegren - Never Google Your Symptoms

An amazing 7+ hours of sleep. 5 before breakfast and 2.5 after. I could still sleep sllger but tomorrow that can't happen because of APPOINTMENTS Of course sleep schedule means I missed one call when I told the person I would be available and had to scurry to shower before the appointment I think my therapist forgot to tell her software to reschedule from our usual cycle.. But every day's a holiday and that means I had time to deal with various emails arising from last night's email I sent to a listserve about Issues at the NFB convention. Oh heavens. Who CARES if the topic makes my head explode? There are professionals who deal with that stuff all the time and I just want to be able to focus on the transpo stuff due soon. As for late night googling, my mother tested negative for the interesting bit of DNA but she does remember the names of my dad's two cousins on his mom's side. Both have easily findable obituaries. Aside from the medical family tree it's kind

Alki Beach Sunset

Image
4 + hours of sleep in bed plus a couple more in chair trying to hit balance of nerves and need to go to bed. So feel rested as if... Last night's second interest group: um, I listened to part of it and fell asleep. I got to talk but did not hear waht others say. Ahhh communications. And today much interesting listening also procrastination and nowhere near enought exercise. Alki beach sunset Uncopyrighted image grabbed from Twitter The photo is in honor of two quaker filmmakers who must meet but not in connections with fireworks PS Double chocolate gelatto makes a VERY decadent breakfast even when accompanied by oatmeal

Because Everyone needs falling onions

about 4.5 hours of sleep counting going back to bed late in the morning after Amazon delivery.  Bedtime sound environment: the news via Youtube? Uhh. Billy Joel: we didn't start the fire? Uhhh. Cai Quirk bassoon. Ahhhh except one could still get wired. Sigh. Feel the love and... Accumulating LOTS of Amazon paper bags. No handles. Recyclable. Today add two GIANT insulated pouche that hold one or two pints of gelatto / sorbet Now well-provisioned for a week of Quaker and ACB zooms. No visual on the onions falling off the fridge. Use your imagination

Today in balanced diet?

Image
4.5 hours of sleep.  Going to bed earlier would have been an option. Oh for that late night news fix. If I am going to do that news fix I should do it earlier in the evening especially if I am even going to click on all the January 6 bodycam footage getting released.  Almond M&Ms  andhigh fiber multigrain crackers Up early because book group that has been Tuesday evening wants to close out with Friday morning sessions. It seemed like everyone was more alert but tech including mine was wiggier. I don't know how to make my iPAd shut up when notifications happen. I am not sure everyone is finding it nourishing.  No breakfast with Sharky the screen reader voice activation. Probably just as well that brain did not fully register every NFB convention event I would have been tempted to go to until after they were over. And the photo is today's version of balanced diet minus the tuna and kidney bean salad and the cherries. Maybe the high fiber multigrain crackers balance the M&

Nerd Breakfast with refreshable braille device vendor instead of Sharky

six plus hours of sleep Achieved by making it up in time for a BIT of morning techno zoom and enough of a nip at email to collect the timeline of the day's schedule of Uber / Lyft road tripping. and bye bye the sleep distressing graphic RantWoman thought of posting.

Nerd Breakfast with Sharky

About six hours of sleep. Accomplished by falling asleep a couple times before going to bed after 3, waking up in time to have breakfast and then join a zoom call about "Tips and tricks with JAWS." zxoom Blind convention for "those other blind people." Sharky is the new as of 2021 version of "my" screen reader, JAWS. Nerd breakfast is just events on eastern time.

Barbarians and Blindness convention time

5 ish hours of sleep. Cat demanded to be fed at 6:30.  I needed to be out the door to a medical appointment by 9. How quickly it becomes unreasonable to go back to bed. 3 construction cranes between bus stop and medical appointment. So that's how we roll amid the noise today. As for the photo: how this much-photographed bus stop looked today. Now back to my inbox.

New Earworm? Sunset Song - Miguel del Aguila

Image
Somewhere around SIX hours of sleep. That's the good news. Going to bed at 3and then getting up for good at 10:30, ummmm The music is the byproduct of looking at the website for the person who led my writing workshop at FGC. U subsequently mangled eir pronouns multiple times in conversation with someone else  and transgender identities always perplex me.  Oh and interacting with visual art.. but a wonderful human being.

Helium ballon hyberbole and Score one for lurting out

Image
7? hours of sleep. 4.5 hours before feeding the cat.   2.5 more hours after feeding the cat. The balloons are in honor of the bicentennial and symphony concert child labor helium balloon sales. This was before awareness of bad things about helium balloons. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY. No the bicentennial balloon sales where nowhere near this level of hyperbole. A large column of helium balloons via Intelligent Engineering Brain is definitely well nourished by FGC and apparently needs more sleep to help digest. The just blurting out was ... oh wait for the other blog

Could we PLEASE go easy on the fireworks this year

Image
4 hours of sleep. I HOPED more would be possible but NO. Bare wooden desk after the cat fled One Massive shell went off and sent the cat into hiding. Hence this week's silly saturday cat pic is the cat is nowhere to be rfound.

Turn of the calendar tangle

Image
Four hours of sleep even though I wanted more. Last night's speaker was VERY Quakerly. Videos up on the FGC website by July 15. I am wired with too many ideas from FGC and of COURSE that means I need sleep even more. A tangle of lanyards, nametags political buttons, miscellaneous swage I am not totally charmed with how quickly my new mattress seems to have gotten lumpy. I wonder if there is some way to reinflate it. Trying to come down from high of my writing workshop   The photo? The tangle of things I have hanging on the same hook as my giant print wall calendar. I have to move them every month to change the page. Some of it is less tangled after yesterday's effort

Turn of the Month

Solid 5 hours of sleep  WONDERFUL zoom concert last night. One of the absolute joys of Zoom with screen reader is that Zoom tells me the names of everyone joining. Even if I am not going to go find them in 300 people it is so cool to know they are there. At one point someone was not muted and not responding to requests to mute. Unclear whether it was even deliberate. The tech host locked the meeting and gradually opened up one voice asking Friends to worship, a couple others related to performers. Echoes of life on the helpdesk in grad school when a flash flood knocked out a bridge carrying both the main statewide T1 line and the backup. Worship. Listen to evidence of troubleshooting. Gradually hear new names joining, troubleshooting settling down and the music resumed!. If I am REALLY organized I will post links to the artists. Zoom conference dining! Feeling very well nourished by workshop and worship sharing but missing out on some meaty interest groups between tiredness and demand
