Sincerely Offered Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing….

Image
4.7 hours of sleep. Awake in time for 9 am zoom. I needed a break from the steady flow of news garbage so a few musical vids 2024 ambitions, today's version A place to store my hats A table that STAYS clear A counter that stays clear. A refrigerator free of all but the most minimal nonfood life forms.

Siilly Lease Language. Cat Lady aspirations have to wait

Image
One and only one cat allowed on lease.  Have bigger fish to fry than arguing that I need a second emotional support cat to keep me and the first one sane. Still trying to declutter enough to feel comfortable inviting a new kitty in.   In the meantime, lots of video proxy cats. 6.4 hours of sleep AND  up in time to have breakfast and get almost dressed, only minus socks and shoes before a VERY cool Zoom. Nice to have warmer weather.

A bit of (very arranged) Bach to tend the soul: Toccata & Fuge d-Moll BWV 565 arr. for recorder orchestra

Image
The Toccata and Fuge was originally written for organ. The hordes of recorders are just FUN 6.7 hours of sleep.  Go to bed early, up in time to take a shower before a very COOL zoom but then also grab a NAP. Basically a motivational calamity about work on further clutter purge but plenty to write and it was warm enough not even to want a blanket for a nap. Happy Monday.

Sleep? What sleep? Stairway To Heaven - What A CAT Would Sing Instead

Image
38 hours of sleep. We will not discuss when or how much Quakering I slept through. REALLY good discussion on a different call. And a trip to see Mom, including supper and easy chatter without too much of all that we NEED to get started on. Where the F did the fly come from? It's 60 degrees, such a contrast from 20 a couple weeks ag o.

More volcano vid from a few days ago for the visuals.

Image
5.4 hours of sleep. Two interviews and a haircut. I mean to make a list of clutter purge goals and other goals. I have to document volunteer time and who benefits from it.

The world definitely needs more curly-haired cats and this is part of their story

Image
Amazingly 4.5 hours of sleep AND up in time to have breakfast and do a lobby visit before help on the clutter purge project. I got rid of another shopping cart load of materials. Some piles are higher on other surfaces but it feels both nice and jarring to have more space for other next steps. I also took out trash and compost before STAR shift.

Back with more contrabassoons / double bassoons

Image
Something like 4.5 hours of sleep. Busy and COOL day. See other posts.

The Perfect Sleep Well vid: Cat Keeps Bringing Money.....

Image
4 ish hours of sleep. Too much Zoom at home with clutter that needs to be dealt with. Ask ne about communications grumbles. Or don't.

Late Night Public Meeting nerdery and Cats in Native Australian Aboriginal Culture

Image
4+ hours of sleep. Also known as up in time to shower before online therapy appointment, never mind being up late watching a whole public hearing video. Therapist insists that self-care should at least occasionally involve FUN.

A voice from Childhood, NOT Deep faked. So God Made a Farmer - 1978 FFA Convention Speech - Paul Harvey

Image
"Hello Americans. This is Paul Harvey...." I am glad I found the original speech. Unfortunately, I am also mad: "GET THAT FILTHY PLANT MURDERING CLIMATE CHANGE DENYING pitiful demented EX-PRESIDENT's name out of your filthey Deep Fake AI GENERATED MOUTH. Sorry. Now, sleep data. A respectable 4 hours of sleep. If I had gone to bed earlier, I could have BOTH gotten more sleep AND taken my trash out. But at least I was dressed in time for a 1pm Zoom. And it was the kind of meeting where I was explicitly there to educate everyone, so I do NOT feel the least bit repentent for having soemthing to say about EVERY topic presented. Oh happy Monday and happy winter monsoons. I do not know which is worse, black is sprinkled with salt or all the parking lot slime that washes onto the breezeway when it rains.  So again, exercise with the pedal exerciser. PARTY!

Vivaldi on the clarinet

Image
Thank you Eastern European artists posting bits of classical music 6 ish hours of badly needed sleep 2.5 hours of Quaker stuff TEXTING during worship I am exhausted from cooking on thing even thought I want to make more. HOEPFULLY tomorrow.

Oh No! The Sound of glaciers melting on Mt. Everest?

Image
No soothing bedtime vids last night. Melting glaciers, banality in the life of a notorious spy... 6 ish hours of sleep. For breakfast considered fast food cheesy jalapeno sausage McMuffin with egg. Actual breakfast: banana, toasted whole wheat English muffin with vegan margarine and hard boiled egg.  REALLY good UBS meeting today. People appreciated what I brought about election and conversation moved to lots of good info sharing about transportation. And a cold keeps trying to grab me. All runny nose today. Blech. But SUNNY and in the 40's so we have moved beyond the deep freeze.

One of those "or not" nights.

Image
Mucky grey outside plus grow lamp inside GOOOOOD afternoon and Happy Friday to everyone.  4 ish hours of sleep. Again, no comment about from when to when except that sleep was in fact a better decision than fast food breakfast and trip to fetch mail. But Trash needs to be trashed. And there will be the matter of what to eat later since breakfast was some of my awesome black bean corn chicken stew and the fridge has plenty of ingredients but nothing that qualifies as throw it in the microwave FOOD. Maybe steam some broccoli. And it's Friday afternoon at the computer lab. In some worlds it would be time to have fun with tactile graphics but that is not today's world. Did I mention, EXTREMELY cold with sunshine and no rain is so much easier to deal with than rain and clouds? Minority view probably but life also complicated by needs for staff to deal with burst pipes in other buildings.

Fight it all with a Bach Fugue in g minor for Low Recorder Quartet

Image
I am here going to pretend that creative arrangement of a Bach fugue for low recorders will ameliorate the hideous effects of multiple metastasizing moments of warfare, a volcano busy swallowing what used to be a village in Iceland, and massive arctic blasts here there and everywhere. Anyway, enjoy the music. That's an order! 5.5 hours of sleep. And an Angel came from Full Life to laud efforts so far and when she asked whether I could use some help, I SAID YES. An hour a week to help declutter for awhile. Other than that, VERY cold and sunny is SO much more bearable that freezing with clouds and precipitation and slick everything.

Mint tea, macaroni salad and another volcano vid from a couple days ago Lava Reaches GrindavĂk, Claims First Homes

Image
6.4 glorious hours of sleep. Actual sleep. AND still up in time for bimonthly zoom. No bra, alas but enough layers to cover a multitude of sins. I still have not turned on my heat and I am alrady back to only one layer of sleepwear. Mercifully, the weather got less pukey as the day wore on. And the macaroni salad? Last night's vid diet. Apparantly letting the fresh-cooked macaroni soak up a little vinegar and adding a small amount of brown sugar to the dressing makes it hawaiian. Probably also the veggies including scallions, grated carrot, celery. Will I wonder further down a macaroni salad rabbit hole? STAY tuned.

Volcano eruption in Iceland sends lava flowing toward a nearby settlement

Image
Yeah, it's the same volcano, different video sleep negligible. I had something at 9:30 and at a certain point was afraid of going to bed and not waking up in time. I think we nailed it and now I am still wired. I should eat food. I have beet chips and smoked salmon bits. That should be enough I think I will be okay as lone as I don't attempt anything too complex or socially intense. Rut=-roh... I may have to miss worship with the Ukrainians tonight because tomorrow is another full day.

In Lieu of cat vids, volcano eats village: Iceland volcano - emergency declared as lava sets town on fire

Image
Look, Ma! The lava is swallowing the village.  THe village is evacuated..and somehow natural disasters are WAY more soothing than some other possible video streams 5.6 hours of sleep. Only one layer of sleepwear. MUST go to bed earlier tonight because of a scheduled Zoom event at 9:30 am.

Expect cats to apologize??? 6 Ways Cats Apologize To Their Humans

Image
6.5 hours of sleep. And uncharacteristically for a Sunday, almost as much Zoom as sleep. YIKES Cold helps with sleep. So actually does enough time on the silly bicycle exercizer Will I now at a pretty late hour, GO DO SOME LAUNDRY??? As me tomorrow

Time for another cat vid: Do Cats Understand Humans?

Image
7.0 hours of sleep! And I showered, washed hair, and did not turn into a total icicle when I went out. Tired though and laundry will have to wait until tomorrow.

We know it's there because: Ancient DNA Reveals a Ghost Population of 'African Neanderthals'

Image
The DNA equivalent of cosmological Dark matter. We know it's there because.... 5.1 hours of sleep. Extra layers because of cold. SLEEP WELL. Longer would not have been terrible but as it was, I did a 10:30 am zoom call in my cold apt because i was not ready to leave the house. Further--DON'T OVERDO IT--nostalgia on another blog.

Ok Duh! 9 Scientific Reasons Why Your Cat Sleeps With You

Image
5 ish hours of sleep and up in time for breakfast before a Teams call. Getting COLD.  Trying to do too much on too short a deadline.

The Purple Wave. Lupine Invasion. Iceland's Deserts Are Turning Purple

Image
6 ish hours of sleep. We will not discuss from when to when except that I missed Broadband Breakfast by hours. If one is going to be a late night YouTube addict, can the habit be excused because thre arequestions of saving the planet involved.

The Fam? Ancient DNA:A Girl Whose parents were two species

Image
4 ish hours of sleep. We will not discuss from when to when. Shower before bed is LOVELY. Tomorrow I MUST call the CPAP people. Today email had too many tasks and I am not juggling well. Still high from the alumni interviewers reception and MUST respond to some more scheduling emails. Speaking of Chrome, standard gmail, Teams....

More cheerful than the daily news? Why didn’t the Europeans die en masse from Native American diseases?

Image
5.6 hours of sleep. To bed early enough that theoretically I could have gone back to bed. BUT NO! Social media calls. And my groupies ask for my attention. But the neighborhood internet is back, and I had correctly located the router, but it was in fact a wider outage and rebooting the router would not have helped. Happy Monday

Perspective? 99% of Ancient Human Population Wiped Out 900,000 Years Ago

Image
5.6 hours of sleep. Shower and now wet hair and trouble staying warm all day. I love being in my apartment including grow light and open window. But I can't get enough done on laptop. So I HOPE the internet is working. Heard a rumo that in this 'hood it miht not be. Why it's good to have a hot spot  Happy Sunday.

Pretend it's still Saturday. Scientists Discovered Something Strange About Neanderthal DNA

Image
5 ish hours of sleep I made ratatouille with leftover zucchini from Christmas plus eggplant, etc.  I also spent a lot of time either on phone or Zoom. Fun to catch up with a blind Russian history prof friend. She is doing a freshman dip toes into history class based on Wan and Peace. I am dying to hear how that turns out. Also hard to know how to cheerlead for tech stuff especially since right now I am also flummoxed by a couple changes I MUST look up tutorials about.  No computer lab at all. Kind of weird. Also I need to take out trash and I am tired of short days and locked back door regime. AWESOME end the blockade demonstration to watch unfold on Twitter. Laptop situation less than ideal. Harder to use vision and screen reader work just TAKES LONGER.

Denisivan DNA: the new cat videos

Image
5 ish hours of sleep. We will not discuss from when to when or how many snippets of computational DNA and population mapping were the distraction of choice. Notes to self: --Call the CPAP people --Reschedule the colon thingie AGAIN --MUST do better about walking more. --Trying to wean myself off of GMAIL HTML mode sucks and I am TRYING to cope. Happy insurrection anniversary eve.

All hail the Christmas Lamp still going strong even though the holiday is rudely OVER

Image
The Christmas lamp, the grow light and some Mother in law tongue  4 ish hours of sleep. I woke up with CPAP machine off, turned it back on and did not sleep much longer. And WHY was I doing tasks at 2 am? 3 am? Pizza for lunch. YUM. Yummier than I expected for rosemary potatoes on top of crust. As for the salad order, I ordered 2 salads of one kind and a third different one. All with dressing on the side. I got one Caesar salad with 3 small dressings and one large dressing. I HATE croutons and someone else's order must also have gotten screwed up. Now I need to nag for a refund because the $10 gift certificate does not cut it. Truly #FirstWorldProblems. Happy #WorldBrailleDay even if the images that came up when I searched had exactly NOTHING to do with the occasion. Another First World Problem

Trees /snow globes

Image
What if I had batteries for all my don't murder a pine tree snow globe Christmas trees? Speaking of gifts to be ambivalent about and forest and trees... Speaking of clutter possibly needing to be decluttered.   Should these gifts stay or go? 5.6 hours of sleep. Morning techie webinar interesting. Webinar generates more interesting questions than old meeting format. Some beginning of month chores handled. I am a little bored of my cooking but boy do I like setting my own salt level in the stew. Housekeeping goals for the year. --Keep table and country clear enough that there is work surface. --Aspire to do the same for the work table. Get rid of second shopping cart and figure out whether to store or get rid of what's in it now. --FIgure out how to hire someone to scrub floor and clean bathroom once a month. --Get on a cycle to clean out and organize all my various shelf spaces.  Happy Wednesday y'all

Bye Bye Kitty. Thank you for LONG life of love. Kiss off Hyperthyroidism

Image
Yup. STILL MISS MY KITTY. 4.0 hours of sleep. Note to self: try to do the bicycle exerciser early in the evening or even in the afternoon. Note to self: the Grow light helps but it seems better not to stretch the daylight too far beyond what is happening outside. Note self: videos about the royal family and tearjerkers about something turning out well for kids and cat vids are ALL Brain candy. Happy Tuesday.

And now from another continent" African Medley - Ferrum High School Formal Choir - ATKV Applous Choir

Image
4.6 hours of sleep. All sort s of stuff bubbles up in the morning but by the time I am wready to peck at it....
