Birds in the middle of the night

Somewhere past 4 hours of sleep but definitely not 5. Sigh. Too much popcorn, squash soup,   trail mix late in the evening. Also online retail therapy: DO NOT try to buy a microwave especially one with raised tactile controls late at night. It will not go well. Also do not have apoplexy about new machines in laundry room. New is awesome as long as they keep working. Problem is they also do NOT have raised controls. So I emailed someond I know at DBSC to see if their clients have strong opinions. (Do not wax nostalgic about laundry flambeau, resident run service with finances in same shape as condo association of a young Friend's mother in manhattan) ON the upside, it is really fun to hear the birds singing as I walk across the breezeway to go to bed. And it cheered me that V saw me because she said she fell asleep early and therefore also woke up unreasonably early and was doing something to do with gardening on her window ledge. V also permanently in the Hold in t...

Halfway through a psalm

Somewhere close to 5 hours of sleep. Bedtime reading was about 1/3 of Psalm 51 in Braille. RSV Bible. Grade 2 Braille. In other words, a communications relic on multiple grounds. Then the talking Book reader suddenly erupted to say it has 19 hours of charge and how to turn it off. Weird. Rest of the mental postcards in other directions

Still no microwave ordered

Somewhere over 5 hours of sleep, counting in chair before bed and go back to bed for an hour after breakfast. I need to try to exercise earlier in the day. Evening exercise came w drama in form of needing to call 911 because of someone PROBABLY just drunk and lying in a heap outside a neighbor's door. 911 operator asked a couple questions that I realized after call are about has the guy collapsed due to COVID hypoxia. He definitely smelled of alcohol and I am not sure about his cracking voice. I wish it were not on point to have to think about this stuff. Other than that quest for microwave continues. Satisfying or amusing to encounter ones online that sell for $2000 but reassuring that probably what will do just fine comes in at less than $200 which I can do. Today I splurged for lunch at taco time. Coke tasted marvelous. Now back to just tea.

56 steps

RantWoman achieved something over 5 hours of sleep total. Four hours in bed. the rest in chairs while trying to get motivated to go to bed.and definitely not being up to the writing task RantWoman had set before herself. RantWoman is glad she got dishes done yesterday because it feels much nicer to start the week with a clean counter and stove. RantWoman is finding it easy to walk DOWN four floors on the stairs. This also helps about social distancing issues in the elevator. Now if RantWoman would also work a few more walks UP RantWoman could hopefully up her exercise level at least a little. Rantwoman will check in with a neighbor about using the wifi in the lobby of the building. RantWoman forgot about some connectivity points when suggesting to someone else that he email.the other neighbor. Oops. RantWoman will also grumble about a story she heard on the radio about mobile wifi access with a drive up option. Look if you are going to have mobile wifi, maybe consider a couple ...

HHappy Nuclear Meltdown anniversary

RantWoman achieved close to 5 hours of sleep but part of it was in the chair. ANd part of it was disrupted by obsessive search for RantWoman's phone charging cable. RantWoman borrowed a lame substitute from the computer lab and when it did not do what was needed overnight RantWoman went on a phone rampage in hopes that an average retail clerk could answer RantWoman's question: do you have X in stock. RantWoman called the two closest pharmacies. Pharmacy 1 said no. They were wrong. They did have a shit ton of car charger cables but they it turned out also had exactly what RantWoman needed. See below. Pharmacy 2 said yes, but they are a little further away and RantWoman is lazy. Out RantWoman went with mask etc to Pharmacy 1. Lucky guess, but of course RantWOman needed to find a human to unlock the display racks. That would be fine, expected. Endless manspalining about whether what RantWoman WANTED TO BUY would meet her needs was NOT fine. GIve us our daily dose of mo...

Sleeps or not? Not

Sleep > 4.5 hours. Going back to bed would be nice. Going to bed earlier would be good. Late night munchies get in the way of sleeping BUT also seem to help right now about better sleep when RantWoman actually gets to sleep. Go figure After yesterday's foray to the pharmacy, RantWoman did NOT immediately start on the med that is supposed to work quickly AND help about sleep. Why not? RantWOman wants to see if the things she wrote about here settle down before adding anything new. Today's essential travel   Busy day of zoom calls ahead so exercise will be constrained. Sigh.Need to do some online transactions though.

Lentil brownies

The Good news: 5+ hours of sleep. The bad news, I should have gone back to bed to sleep some more. I do not like how I am feeling. But I was VERY glad for some conversations yesterday. Today's food prep frenzy: lentil coconut brownies. Now, more dishes to wash.

pharmaceutical help

4 + hours of sleep. Writing was productive but not compatible with reasonable bedtime and was left to season at least overnight. Now I could either blog sleep stuff, blog techno geek stuff, or go fetch some pharmaceutical help awaiting me down the street. Too much fun.

It's pandemic, not pandemonium

Sleep: somewhere 5+ hours! Probably to bed to late and still woke up at six. Too much twitter probably with breakfast. But at least back to bed until past 9:30. Clobbers the morning but sleep matters. Tomorrow I will make either weekly pot of oatmeal or lentil coconut things I dreamed up. Maybe both because that sounds like a good idea tonight but probably not.But lentil coconut muffins sounds like more fun than oatmeal. Such decisions, which I should darn well be glad about. Pandemic keeps coming out pandemonium. 3 calls today with cumulative info from the first two and the book of Mark for the 3rd.

I love the smell of chlorine

somewhere toward 5 hours of sleep total counting the nap while watching videos and the hour + from going back to bed after deciding to eat breakfast mostly proteins few carbs. Tomorrow I MUST make oatmeal which means I need to wash dishes today to have containers. Also need to write email to Quaker grocery delivery offerers. I cannot get enthusiastic about waiting in line at TJ and I need me some beet chips, steel cut oats... Signed up for an interpreter / HIPAA online thing.  Signed up for something specifically about Meetup and used occasion to whine about accessibility. But there are 600 comments so I am afraid mine might get lost. Got really nice customer service email from compression sock place because one of new pair snagged on toenail and got a hole the first time I put it on. They were clarifying size I need for replacement. THANK YOU. Call from pharmacy. Let's see if .. helps about sleep disruptions, at least enough to more carefully digest multiple unsafe at any ...

Walking in circles

Counting two cat naps in chair while attempting to consume videos and the hour of lying in bed half awake when i went back to bed about 10 am, I made it past 5 hours total. Somewhere in that muddle I also figured out a path to... I probably could have slept longer but two robocalls in a row on my landline made me get up. I am not sure wehre I am on staff list of people to do welfare checks on and I think the people who would call have my cell but for some reason I did not want to sound dead. Thank you robocalls for being a menace to sleep. I also messaged dr. to follow up on conversation from last week about medication. The one that acts sooner, even if it does not address everything, thank you very much,. I expect to hear prescription is ready. I am trying to act motivated. Like I really need to clean off desk and I am not sure why that terrifies me even though it is totally on point for cat safety if nothing else. Happy Monday and no I did not call into the community partne...

Blame the crossword

4.5 hours of sleep. Blame coke at 8:00 and the NYT crossword puzzle app which I finally decided to indulge in even thoough accessibility sucks and the navigation even sucks for sighted people. I am a grown up and make grownup choices. But I think I need to try to download some reading material or some music or....

Ice cream and habanero soft taco

Barely 4 hours in bed but at least an hour of sleep from falling asleep watching videos. Lousy sleep hygiene not to go to bed before falling asleep though. Exercise was kind of spotty because of laundry change quest destination list but I did work in some walk the breezeway time and at least walked DOWN the stairs a couple times. Today I walked  a good half hour in the park across MLK from us. I also did some but not enough housekeeping. And then THREE zoom calls. Yesterday's quest for laundry change made me grumpy about #CarOwnerVirus and not even trying to get laundry quarters from the drive through at the bank or from Trader joe's where everyone was nicely social distancing but the whole spectacle somehow reminded me of the lines of people waiting to recycle their glass containers the spring I spent in Leningrad / St Petersburg. And the food in the title: yesterday's shopping yielded two containers of ice cream for the price of one. I should just give one to a ne...

Sun and quest for laundry coins

Almost 4 hours of sleep. Not enough exercise yesterday. Today much better Post this and consider just going to bed.

Back to bed and adulting

Barely 4 hours of sleep not including the tossing and turning when I went back to bed for awhile after breakfast.  Ate supper kind of late and that did not help. Also in cellphone transition so no Twitter and no crossword. Nothing to do with my obsessiveness energy. Well there would be clean off the table and ... I was in Deal with it mode about devices. Also SOME but not enough paperwork Happy Wednesday

Sounds of silenc(ing?)

Barely 4 hours of sleep. As in HOLY SHIT wake me up at 4 am and not let me go back to sleep before or after the steel cut oats porridge sleep disturbance. Yesterday's exercise was 2 or 3 trips up and down the stairs four floors and 20+ minutes walking the breezeway and whatever housekeeping got done for instance while cleaning up after the dropped peanut butter jar. Today's obsessiveness issues: old phone got wiped yesterday. The touch screen had completely failed and the wipe was part of troubleshooting. So maybe I would not have been able to find phone numbers or my crossword  or humans to chat up the head explode issues anyway, but agggh! Good afternoon in new orange clothing items

Songs?

4.5+ hours of sleep. Not really enough exercise and especially not early enough in the day. Bach cello suite instead of comedy. RantWoman went to bed earlier than usual. RantWoman even decided trying to read a psalm in braille would help make her sleepy. Yes. Psalm 29. About 3 lines of which Ascribe to the lord several times took up about 2/3 and RantWoman cannot even remember what the phrase that struck her last night is. Need to pee and hungry cat. Followed by choice between garlic avocado toast and going back to bed. The garlic won. No vampires at least. Today deal with multiple faltering devices and see about job description for online grocery clerk,.. Adulting is so much fun.

thank you Fire Department

4.5 hours of sleep. More would be fabulous of course. Dang the need to pee, no matter how much the cat appreciates breakfast. RantWoman's excuse for late going to bed: the need to climb 4 flights of stairs repeatedly while both elevators were out of service. The elevators go out of service when the automated fire alarm gets tripped. That happened Thursday for a pot left on the stove--At RantWoman's next door neighbor. They are supposed to reset after the Fire department comes to deal with the alarm. Last night the second one did not get reset. RantWoman called 911 and sounded pitiful. Then RantWoman sounded pitiful: RantWoman can walk the stairs and it is good exercise, something RantWoman theoretically aspires to and will add to her routine more often. But MANY of RantWoman's neighbors cannot walk and having people stuck in public areas will NOT help about #socialdistancing. Anyway the firemen came. They had masks, THANK HEAVEN. RantWoman sounded pathetic about the ele...

Saturday

MUST try to go to bed earlier because that seems to be how I get to better totals. Last night 4.5 hours and not going back to bed in the morning when it sort of would have made sense.. I still need to download some more books from BARD. The other night there was some password hangup. Yesterday's exercise was excursion for mail, new socks, and popping into Hay Tai Market. Also looking for non #CarOwnerBias options for takeout food. Stay tuned. Terrible news: cats can catch the virus and get sick. So I wear a mask to protect the Queen of Spades who is my main source of touch right now. Ain't the pandemic grand.

Isolation

Four + hours of sleep. More would not be terrible of course. And going back to bed after feeding the cat would have been good but that did not happen. Still have not downloaded more books from BARD. Not impossible to fall asleep in silence but some kind of music or radio before heading to bed seems to sooth. RantMom has a tablet and someone from the social work school to listen once a week. I am glad. Rest of agenda belongs on other blogs.

The donut food group

Barely four hours of sleep. May I blame the full or close to full moon? Also the crossword puzzle. I got a tolerable but not great amount of exercise yesterday between the time spent cooking in the morning and a trip to the bank and QFC in the afternoon. I should have walked again in the evening after Bible study. That did not happen. Bank was a trial. I need quarters. The bank lobby closed at 4 and I was there toward 5. Okay Earlier.today or tomorrow. Also there was this aggressive panhandler dude who came up to me right after I withdrew cash from the ATM. I gave him change. There was NO WAY I was going to give him the money I had just withdrawn. MAYBE I should have dug out a $5. That did not happen. After grocery shopping though it occurred to me that I could walk back to the transit center, give the guy a couple things I bought like the extra donuts from the discount box and take the bus home. I did not do that. Instead I walked and scoped out something else to do with d...

Sleep Food Larkin Poe perform "Preachin Blues" on DittyTV

Image
4 hours of sleep. After that RantWoman got up, ate another container of buckwheat porridge she found in the freezer, watched her microwave die a pitiful electronic death, concocted first chocolate tapioca pudding and then slightly curried ginger yellow split pea soup. RantWoman is good at making food she likes. RantWoman is so good at making food she likes that her fridge sometimes gets too full of her own creations. Blame the crossword puzzle for the late to bed point. RantWoman is a grown up and is aware she has to open the crossword puzzle app. Blame the crossword puzzle anyway The item below landed in RantWoman's not quite earworm of the week stream thanks to Johan Maurer, a Quaker who RantWoman wishes she knew more people who read his blog posts regularly because they are well... Other than that, RantWoman clearly is more strongly led about interactions with themes from various religions than others around here. The fact that few people immediately around RantWoman w...

Steam and peanut butter pretzels

RantWoman achieved basically 4 hours of sleep. This includes a few short spells of exercise over the day but no at least 20 minute increment of at a minimum just walking the breezeway. This also includes peanut butter pretzels too close to bedtime. Now RantWoman gets to figure out a Trader Joe's run / order. And this included one last spell of reading the Chechen bombers book. At this point, RantWoman has absorbed as much as she is going to absorb and the story is about what RantWoman would expect. Now it is morning. RantWoman is up earlier than maybe she would prefer. For the trouble, RantWoman has had time both for phone conversation with Little Sister (cue CPAP and ...)and for 20 minutes walking the breezeway, this time with mask which also means steamy glasses. Besides janitor mopping the lobby the main people I see are the smokers

Walking and comedy

5.5 hours of sleep. Woot. This in spite of indulging in A WHOLE HOUR of comedy videos. Woke up with clarity about ... too. Stay tuned.

Popcorn. Need more popcorn

zzzzz Freudian typo. I made it to bed about 1; slept until about 5. Went back to bed around 7 i think and slept untilsafter 9 so at least SIX HOURS of sleep. I GUESS it helps on the sleep front that after getting dropped several times, phone screen is a lovely sickly green too much of the time. Sometimes it settles down into normal mode but not enough of the time. Popcorn? Did I say popcorn? The world is entitled at some point to reflection about pandemic dining, cooking from my larder, past generations' needs to manage food carefully to survive over the winter and such themes. In the meantime, one of my favorite high fiber high crunch munches is just plain popcorn. At this point I ahve a jar of kernels that I hope are amenable to popping in the microwave. I also just at up the last of my bag of already popped corn. Such problems.

Just sleep

RantWoman achieved just over 4 hours of sleep. This was a late night crossword puzzle plus fiddling with something, rantWoman does not remember what for too long before going to sleep. Do not forget not going back to sleep after breakfast.

Distraction with Volcanoes and bison

Almost six hours of sleep because i went back to bed for an hour. Walked some in the afternoon. Some more late about 10. Skipped reading. Still mean to get some more stuff downloaded Definitely no snacking late except a little popcorn. Really touching medai involving the two Cuomo brothers. So much love and mutual respect. Should we just draft Andrew Cuomo to be the democratic nominee? Thank you to someone named Andrew Sings in the Trees for inspiring me to put some more geography in my Twitter profile. There are bison connected with this thought and a dance and another reporter standing in front of bison image. Somehow bison are more soothing to wrap my brain around than a pandemic. Ditto a CWU professor who is doing Youtube things about volcanoes and geology. Did I mention my mom now tests negative for ....?

Walk more sleep more

five hours again. Going back to bed would have been good but no. Walking at 10 pm. Not so much. So today I walked about 4. Nice to know that Watered down V8 juice makes a good mid afternoon liquid. Microwave it. Maybe need to call CPAP vendor and figure out a couple things. Adulting in area of cleaning bathroom and wrangling fridge science projects still needed. Not to mention desk. Happy Thursday and time soon for another conference call.

two nights one post

Last night 4 hours Night before last 5 hours. I meant to post particulars but now do not remember Went to bed about 1:30 last night. Various fussiness mostly decided to put some cream on my feet and decided just to get up about 3. Had some juice. Went back to bed about 3:30. Woke up somewhere around 6. Not sure what was the hook. Decided just to try silence no book no braille psalm. Not terrible actually but no theory why not sleep. Got decent exercise to pharmacy and grocery. QFC was busy like Saturday afternoon except no kids. Also clerks were busy stocking things so some aisles were hard to use. Ate dinner around 5 Welcome to #CoronaVirusSeattle
