Here comes the white one

Image
The pink ones are still going strong  and look at the white one  5.7 hours of sleep Time to go chat with relevant people about Mom's upcoming move. Visit to Verizon store to do what I could have done over the phone because that is what I did anyway. Also THREE shots. Flu much later than usual, COVID, and RSV. I am sleepy. I have a meeting at 10 am I should prepare for.

What kind of lunatic names an octopus "Sashimi"

Image
5.6 hours of sleep Yikes. More Zoom than sleep. Good Zoom but still.... I needed a timeline cleanse.

Zombie with a tote bag

Image
4.2 hours of sleep. Not enough to fight off the zombie effect. Good inperson meeting.  Good evening virtual meeting. Very fun thing to receive in the middle of a dreadful tech support call

So much for Cyber Monday

Image
A new home internet gateway that is no help in my Zip code, plus the box it came in 4.3 hours of sleep. More would have been lovely, but I had time to shower before a really fun video meeting. The Cyber Monday moment gets its own blog post. I want a  treadmill desk. It would be good for not feeling weighted down when on the computer. Also I can never have too many tote bags and a wonderful one appeared today. Plus the bag arrived in the middle of a gnarly call to tech support where I wound up cheerleading because the problem was not something the young person answering the phone could do anything about.

I don't care who thinks I am being repetitive

Image
Yes,I am still crazy about my Christmas cactus 6.3 hours of SLEEP. This has to do with getting to bed at a reasonable hour. It also has to do with exhaustion from all the cooking yesterday. Plus, the exercise and carefully controlled diet seem to have cleared up, at least temporarily, knock on wood, some hearing unpleasantness in my left ear. Plus, I started the oatmeal with figs, apricots, chopped almonds, last night and this morning realized I have plenty for two servings. And since I am using the Edge browser instead of Chrome I get nagged about punctuation and spelling where Chrome just auto corrects but sometimes does it wrong. Not sure which I prefer. Beautiful day. I saw Mom on Thursday. I will see her this Thursday. SO instead of another trip to Ravenna, I went grocery shopping, this time at Uwajimaya. I LOVE the wider aisles since COVID, I do not love more and more things being encased in plastic and not knowing where everything is. But I found the produce and the yogurt...

Food in freezer

Image
Zucchini chicken vegetable stew 5.1 hours of sleep. LOTS of turning ingredients into food, wrangling refrigerator life forms, and taking out trash. Good to have food I like on hand to pop into the micro instead of having to cook every day. So much virtue that I did not get a shower until evening. At least hair should be dryer by the time I go to bed.

Sunny Black Friday trip to...the Verizon store

Image
My friends keep reminding me it's a THANKSGIVING cactus. I DO NOT CARE!  6.5 hours of sleep.  NICE! Gorgeous sunny day and fall colors still going strong.

It's cat-themed INSPIRATION PORN. Be grateful anyway

Image
Inspiration porn Definition:  gushy content about disability, adoption of strays, animal shelters and when applied to humans "oh isn't this person with a disability just AMAZING...?" I WILL (probably) adopt an older cat when I am ready to adopt a cat again. In the meantime YouTube has decided that I should take a break from every timpani solo and freaky woodwind ensemble on the platform. Food videos are kind of a thing though I often find that the video is enough, and I do not necessarily care about eating the theme food item, Instead along with an offer from the animal shelter to attend a pet loss grief support group, in between my diet of wars and disinformation topics and trying to learn various current technologies now intruding into my somewhat retro toolset. Well, I did make lentil brownies the other day and did I mention that Nephew is doing keto diet so I have decided to read up too. 4.1 hours of sleep. That is sort of ridiculous except it really did take me 2.5 h...

Literary synopsis via horoscope sends one to Wikipedia

Sorry not sorry there is nothing visual: think incredible athletes dressed in tutus and hand-sewn slippers and SO WHAT if they smell like horses at intermission.  "During intermission, the ballerinas smell like horses." Anton Chekhov commenting on ballet, as offered in a horoscope. Therefore consider this  wikipedia bio 5.6 hours of sleep. And still up in time for weekly techno zoom. Other meetings postponed or fragmented. Blessings especially to friends who will be feeding the homeless while I feast with Mom. Not sure about plan B after. I kind of like the ferry ride to nowhere option, but ....

HOliday HERESY. Vegan No-Turkey Holiday Meal

Image
RantWoman is NOT turning into a vegan. Irrepressible Nephew is doing Keto and I am trying to figure out the overlap between keto and other plans. Intriguing as the YouTube offerings are I have weird associations with the one vegan Thanksgiving I ever participated in But enjoy even if you don't plan to eat any of it. 4.7 hours of sleep. One in-person meeting and the need to type even MORE minutes. Wild and crazy life.

The oatmeal people, twisted

Image
This person is not going to inspire RantWoman to go vegan but he definitely has an agreeable t-shirt Also, probably not going to try this particular recipe, but... 6.5 GLORIOUS hours of sleep. We will not discuss from when to when. What I heard of compline last night was lovely but the audio was useless. Fetch mail. Rave in survey about customer service! Now to to-do's that include some things to catch up with from last week's contentious Zoom and also warmth and energy from the weekend.

I don't CARE if it's repetitive: Christmas Cactus Joy

Image
So much joy 5.6 hours of sleep! Laundry rocks as exercise after days and days of Zoom. Last night ALL THE MACHINES WERE WORKING. And I was the only person doing laundry until I was almost done. SUCH contentment. Late night showers also are SO relaxing. And if one puts on a sweater over one's sleepwear while combing out and braiding one's hair, the sweater gets damp and the sleepwear doesn't. SUCH better sleep. Brain is VERY full from all the things to feed on after FCNL meeting. Late night

Blooming even more

Image
The Christmas Cactus again 3.2 hours of sleep = recipe for zombie but I was glad to make a 7 am session. Zoom memorial was fine But falling asleep in everything else not so much. I may skip the morning events

At least it's not bombing:. Grendjavik going dark

Image
5.6 hours of sleep. Sunny afternoon for lunch on the breezeway. Willing to discern....

Thank you Georgia O'keefe in geological form

Did I mention the most sex-obsessed volcano on that app formerly known as Twitter? Put this vulcussy right in your face pic.twitter.com/Yjo6tKgb8W — Mt. St. Helens (@MtStHelensWA) November 9, 2023 5.3 hours of sleep. Excellent event at the STAR Center Less Zoom than sleep

Reclaiming the name "Rudy" with a dopey tune no less

Image
Rudy Giuliani needs more redemption than this cat, but.... 5.3 hours of sleep. contentious Zoom FCNL annual session SO encouraging even though half and event on Zoom with no break from rest of life is..... My theory: Congress approved the CR because they are embarrassed by the brawling. At least more sleep than Zoon

Magma close to the surface as metaphor considering multiple strands of conflict roiling the news

Image
Amd geographic features dissing each other all over that formerly bird app is such a timeline cleans 5.4 hours of sleep and 5.5 hours of Zoom. Plus Taco Time has a new recipe for corn chowder that did not wow me. Trying not to attempt so much I forget to breathe. I feel listened to in multiple contexts. AND things can get frayed so easily. No cat vids last night. I was obsessed with seeing whether the interwebs suggest anything to help me maintain the right tension in the bungee cord in my cane. Not really but I shall curate quite the collection.

Magma Extremely Close to the Surface. Only tens of Meters Deep. Risk of ...

Image
A WHOLE bunch of the world's volcanoes are spewing all over the internet and i am SO here for it. 5.0 hours of sleep. And then the nap capacity. .

A blooming Christmans cactus can never go wrong.

Image
The pink ones keep coming and coming 4.7 hours of sleep. Worship and gratitudes several ways Virtue in the form of dealing with trash. Now about the refrigerator and if I flunk my inspection... MOM's BIRTHDAY.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

The most potty mouthed volcano on Twitter yuks it up over Mount Rainier

Twitter, now in need of a new and better rename is still capable of providing humor. Fall on Mt. Rainier. Snark extra I’ve never seen a bigger piece of schist https://t.co/wfkWsqrY7K — Mt. St. Helens (@MtStHelensWA) November 8, 2023 3.1 hours of sleep Shower before bed is VERY relaxing. Shower and wash hair before bed means I wake up cold, have to put on more layers, comb out hair and rebraid.  Alumni interview was a DELIGHT. I feel silly because it had not occurred to me that the library where we agreed to meet would be closed on Veterans day. Things went fine at overpriced coffee shop which was mostly empty. Place has a bottomless cup of terrible drip coffee. but I had such a great time talking to the student that I barely cared. Such first world problems.

Sucked in by vodka sauce?

Image
Dedicated to a friend who complains she can't get good New York Style pizza around here. Not sure she would be into making her own. And I am not sure about the vodka in the sauce except that is what sucked me in, distracted me from cat vids and ... 5.7 whole hours of sleep. Almost enough to have energy BUT many things dragging me down. Mortifying hot liquid accident fried one brand new computer CPU and I have a bunch of things I want to follow up on and won't get done by a deadline. Everyone on a zoom this morning is feeling enriched by fall colors. And someone else's cats are enough vicarious feline for today.

A mall in Guatemala already has a freaking Christmas tree!

Image
So much blooming joy 5.4 hours of sleep. I am HORRIBLY embarrased. I spilled tea all over one of the brand new computers. I am HORRIFIED. Pray that things dry out and are not too fried.      The title is from someone's travels. Do the Guatemalans think a Christmas tree this early is weird? Happy Thursday.

Cat 101: Mysterious Captivating Feline Tactics

Image
I still want a new cat.  Not yet 5.4 hours of sleep. I am glad I figured out how to get to the Transportation Zoom meeting. SO COOL when other people share my ideas and we can bounce off each other. But now after 4 online meetings, one long and an in-person meeting.... too much in my brain that still needs followup. The cat video is cute but a little redundant for cats' properly trained team members. Election results are encouraging except for the part about mysterious white powders sent to some WA election offices and a certain batshit nuts Congressperson from GA hyperventilating without citing any sources about ALLEDGED voting machine problems in Pennsylvania. As for DIPLOMACY....

Eleven double bassoons because save the cooking and cat vids for another day

Image
More music needed even if multiple performers from the "farting bedpost" genra 3.4 hours of sleep. I could have slept another hour but once I peed I realized that if I went back to bed I would not make it up for a 9:30 alumni interviewing zoom. So eat breakfast. Take a shower. Fight the wrong meeting link until the right one showed up 15 minutes into what I had calendared for a whole hour and wound up being 1/2 an hour. Sounds like my plans to do nothing differently in light of a certain Supreme court ruling are on target. But I want to check out the first half of the recording. And if that is the worst problem of my day....

Delicata Squash and Brussels Sprouts?

For the record, the title is one of the new pizza of the month items at Pagliacci. It sounds surprisingly good, but tonight I had leftover curry from Brother in law's birthday. Other than that 6.9 hours of sleep! paid some bills. Did not enough stretches. Decided it's too cold and wet to wear sandals even if I am just walking across the breezeway. Did not get trash taken out before it got dark. Ordered a grow light. not for the plants for me but maybe I will accidentally also grow some herbs. And reading quaker prep stuff is MUCH better than video sludge I willingly walk into.

Cat vid of the day

Image
4.4 hours of sleep. Should have been more considering the time change. OH WELL. Still appreciating Mom's get her kids together and feed them event.

Yeah I still need another cat but not yet.

Image
I don't consider this vid super informative but it satisfies my cat yearning for about a day. 4.4 hours of sleep. Good tech meetup. More to say in a worship than was going to make it out of my mouth. Brother in law's birthday so Mom got the whole fam together over a meal. It all worked. I have enough leftovers for two days. Yeah leaftovers. Awesom thunderstorm this morning. Shitty bus accident this afternoon. Glad I was not travelling that way today because I could easily have been on the affected bus. Also Twitter news of a protest evokes adrenalin of past protests and BORING grouchiness about what point are people trying to make? A bit of GLORIOUS sunshine and pretty warm after the squall line went through

It's the roasted garlic

Image
Sometimes YouTube food recipes are just the thing and in a different way than cat videos. I have A LOT of legumes so knowing subtle things I can do for variety is COOL. Also cool: good narration and / or the ingredients listed on the YouTube page      6.6 hours of sleep. I am TRYING to adjust body to time change so I have a decent chance of being awake for at least SOME daylight. And tomorrow starts family birthdays and holiday season. Happy Birthday brother in Law.

It never fails.

Image
4.4 hours of sleep. We will not say from when to when to when Ballot just went into mail slot just as this glossy campaign blurb showed up in the mail. I hard boiled some eggs and made a kick butt pot of chili. I WILL make my schedule more friendly to end of Daylight Savings Time.

Praise the Lord I have Beet chips and an Ensalada Rusa (paso a paso) video

Image
5.0 hours of sleep. We will not discuss from when to when except to say that sleep did occur and there was no coronation involved. Also not so many cat videos but a late night snack fueled brain hungry for all my news streams and also hungry for human contact even though more phone calls than average. As for the menu and food references: --Many Zooms back to back and no time for supper. But I have beet chips. Also Kale chips, one of the better ways to eat kale --and the ensalada rusa which also usually has beets in it, maybe the recipe will turn into a reflection on which spices go with which vegetables in which cultures and which ingredients do or do not belong in certain iconic dishes. Sometimes trying to do too much at once actually helps center. Sometimes.
