Rain and wet pavement

Image
6+ hours of sleep. We will not discuss the hour at which I was gushing about wet pavement and the sound of rain. We will discuss waking up wired with many ideas. Happy Monday.  Glory to the rain and to technology for helping memorialize it.

I did in fact sleep

Image
Friday night almost 6.5 hours EVEN WITH shampoo and early schedule. Last night was only 5 hours. I was exhausted but between rum and coke before the banquet and coffee, leaded and burnt coffee at the banquet I probably should not be surprised about sleep pattern. Plus I am wired with things to follow up on. Three days of travel to and from the Seatac Doubletree. I like bus and train so much more than most cars. I managed both to cross International boulevard with a light going out and to make it through the parking lot to the bus stop coming home. The land of  car domination. Cat, jack-o-lanterns  moon

Light rail elevator buttons and eat rocks Fashion Police

Image
5.5 hours of sleep after shower and going to bed early. I had various cat issues to deal with and missed the first hour of morning sessions. Oh Well. Sound transit elevator buttons are SUCH a comedy. I invite readers to observe and consider why. And I paired the following legwear with an understated orange plaid blouse. What are you, blind? Yes, and I know what I am wearing. Home now. Probably took off the hi vis nylon armor one transit leg too soon, but it doesn't breathe well and is too much when it's not raining. A friend requested selfies I generally wear pants even on Zoom; this is live in-person

So much for binge blog aspirations

5+ hours of sleep. I am a grownup about my video habit. I am also wired about convention and this morning I had 3 really good and really different Zooms. But I think I need to show up in person and not just zoom it in tonight.     And no binge blogging.

More Buryatia

More buryatia almost 7 hours of sleep The buryatia video is more soothing than many current media streams and I have whines about my laptop.

Cutting celery, curried lentils and tiny socks.

Somewhere over 6 hours of sleep  Yesterday was lots of turning ingredients into food. I am a good cook, or at least good at making things I like. Laundry last night was tiny socks and a grandma taking care of an 8 month old. The tiny socks stayed in the dryer until well past when someone might have known they were done. I finally moved them to the counter and put one of my loads into a second dryer. Eventually grandma and boy came back to pick up lots of laundry. I am glad there was no one interested in stealing laundry.

Monday Legal maneuvers fix

Almost 6 hours of sleep. Time to make lunch spread before 1 pm Zoom. I think we are supposed to thank TFG and company for endless Youtube videos about the ins and outs of various levels of legal maneuvers. Ewwwww. And Let me At It. Laundry time.

Haircut and memorial

Image
6 almost 7 hours of sleep. I could have slept longer. I will try to keep a steady habit. Mom seems to be doing well after minor surgery. I am SO relieved she lives in a place where there is someone to look in on her so I don't have to do overnights on her pullout couch. I got a haircut! That is right up there in the praise report zone with It Rained! Mom is funny. I offered to send her a selfie and she said she'd rather just see the new shorter french braid live and in person. The transit god were smiling about bus timing home from Great Clips. That also meant I had time to snap this photo of the D'Vonn Pickett memorial full of flowoers and stuffed animals. Such a loss. Clouds breaking up

Image
6 hours of sleep is lovely. More would not be terrible but I got breakfast before call with my fellow in the BLDP program. What is BLDP. Don't worry... I skipped one in person meeting and substituted in-person bus and shopping. Tomorrow I WILL get hair trimmed. After rain, clouds breaking up

Rain!

5+ hours of sleep plus more drowsing in chair. 9:30 phone call worked. Lobby bulletin boards got created without my help. I hope the hang out time made some connections for others.  I made it to the  transit-oriented development walk around the Judkins Park station. I was afraid if I wore my raincoat I would scare the rain away. Luckily it was already raining when it was time to leave. I feel old. I also want to scream at the bright young transit planners to try not to make people pay obeisance to the car gods and by the way magnetic grandkids mean... plus maybe enthusiastic childcare. Instead I bailed early, wanted to go to the bread store that USED TO BE on Jackson. Okay, I haven't been by in years and there is a TON of new housing and the EB bus stop at 12th and Jackson got moved to the other side of 12th. And I have a hip that hurts and I decided I can just COPE with bread prices elsewhere. Maybe Grocery Outlet.  Update: the bread store still exists. Thank you Googlea...

Strollers and shopping carts

Image
Almost 6 hours of sleep. Hallelujah and praise Jesus.  Some days 4+ hours of sleep will work but clearly I need more rest because of the smoke. I was just zombie by 7 last night so it's good that my 7 pm zoom got rescheduled because of no ASL interpreter. And why is it still hard to be fully together in time for an 11 am webinar? Webinar is about the week without driving. Elaboration about strollers and shopping carts available. And Happy 60th birthday to my brother! Eat some cake have a treat with and for some loved ones in honor of the occasion. PS another cake entry still due. Chocolate endorphins without the calories

Cake

Image
4 hours of sleep in bed is not enough even if there were two hours of drowsing in the chair due to not going immediately to bed after Kyiv worship. At least I got my carrot oatmeal breakfast cookies baked before worship. I forgot the coconut this time but since I am being a cowboy about the recipe anyway. After worship there was the part about looking up the Buryats.  A day of scheduling things on Zoom and trying to write thoughtful emails. And I owe the world a blog post about cake. But not tonight.  PS. How many ways are there to say Tired of Smoke! That campfire ambience is lovely--if one is out camping. Nothing like some haze to go with the veggie soft taco for supper And yes I know the image is tilted.

Thanksgiving because it's WAY too early for the commercial world's approach to Christmas and gratitude is always in order.

Image
Somewhere over 5 hours of sleep in bed and of course I should have gone to bed earlier. I had some snarky phrase on my mind for a title but how about instead a nice graphic from one of my sources of problematic email. The words, not usually the pictures. even though it's early for the holiday, go for the exuberance.     Note the TWO turkeys

What? No organ recital

5+ hours of sleep in bed and another at least hour drowsing in front of the computer when I should have just gone to bed. The third Sunday organ recital happened after compline, they just cut the livestream. SIGH. Monday seems to mean catching up on all the email from the weekend. Count my blessings about stability and patience I guess.

Real food and vending machine inaccessibility

Image
Barely 5 hours of sleep. Not preferable. But the cat box is changed. And quaker meetings and blind prayer warriors happened. So count blessings. Put off the rest of the laundry until tomorrow. Type a set of minutes. Eat real food. And post the snark below. Why am I posting this photo of spectacular design inaccessibility? Wrong answers only

Smoke and trees

Actually 6 hours of sleep.  As in stayed in bed after I woke up once while it was still dark and went back to sleep. Good thing I washed hair last night.  Also good thing that I did not absolutely need to staff the table for the white cane walk until 10. Good partner. Good contacts. And then off through the haze with a funky bus trip there and back on a bus route looking at trees. I am so glad my mom was up for the trip, so glad I made the trip.

Laundry luxury!

Amazingly about 6.5 hours of sleep. Part of why: I had the laundry almost entirely to myself BUT I also did not try to do all of my laundry at once. And someone was very grateful I left her part of the time on my last dryer cycle because everything got dry and it was more than time to go to bed. Yep. Still tired of wildfire smoke. But exercise is good even when there is smoke. By the grace of God I made it to Kinko's in time to do some needed copying for tomorrow. Everything is white so I will have to do some creative folding to make things work for the blind person helping me staff a table. But it's a blind thing!

Cursed be the laundry

Image
5+ hours of sleep.     I was going to do laundry last night but the laundry room was busy with other people who were going to take a long time. So I went to bed early. That did not change how long I slept. I also got started with my carrot oatmeal breakfast cookies but I needed more carrots. Organic carrots delivered by Amazon.... There are plenty of Ukraine war threads and the January 6 stuff is morbidly fascinating. Both to me, while terrifying are also profoundly sad: two old guys cracking up badly all over the rest of us.  No pumpkin spice but time for some pumpkins  Fun with free clip art

KNowing I am having dreams is good

6+ hours  of sleep.     And still up in time for a morning zoom. I can't remember now what the dream was but dreaming, getting enough sleep to dream is good.

Thunder Runs?

When it's nice to be out even with too much wildfire smoke and a missed bus A solid six hours of sleep. The vocabulary in the title: a wholesome alternative to nuclear weapons???

More airport dream and who is reading the toothpaste posts

Image
From the daily gif quest about 6.5 hours of sleep counting the early afternoon nap.  Did I mention that I am tired of wild fire smoke? I was more professionally dressed in last night's airport dream. At least I had shoes on even if i could not find my way past some wonderful kids playing with brightly colored blocks. No mention of toothpaste in the dream just peering at my blog stats.

Goings and Comings but not perfectly

Image
From the emails about International MfW holding in Light everyone affected by war in Ukraine Back to just about 6 hours of sleep. No dreams with hugs and I woke up hungry and not wanting to deal with...visit already scheduled with primary care dr.  I told my mom I am not even going to try to visit today. That means I may have time for a nap later. The International MfW about war in Ukraine has dwindled from hundreds to 20-40. Screen reader announcements of comings and goings are weirdly dear.

When one wakes up and realizes the star of one's dream is recently deceased

Image
6. 5 hours before breakfast and another 3.5 after. Is is the COVID booster? My 9 am Zoom flaked which might mean I have more time to take care of my own stuff. And yes, if the star of one's dream offers a hug and thanks one for what one is doing and the rest of the cast of the dream are familiar caring presences not necessarily in the cool kids club. Darned if I remember where this is  PS. Yes there is still wildfire smoke to be tired of. It's been at least a month. Enough Already!

About 5 hours of sleep. I went to bed too early so I woke up too early. Still tired of wildfire. Also tired from COVID shot. I got pfizer this time but Moderna last time. Not sure whether that or general sleep deficit are behind... Enjoy the video. Hopefully it won't wilt over copyright stuff.

Turkish recipe: first smash the eggplant!

Image
About 5 hours of sleep Also out the door in time to be done with the new COVID booster before the time of the actual appointment. Pedestrian friendly signage at the Harborview location still SUCKS. Maybe that will turn into a blog post. SO much binge blog material As for the video, CLOSE YOUR EYES right after you click. Listen to the entire video. Would you be able to make the dish? Now watch the video a second time. Narration or audio description would be SUCH a glorious addition. And if smashing eggplants sounds like way too much fun, get help. Go exercise. Find some kind of socially distanced indoor exercise free of wild-fire smoke. Blow off steam. If you still need to smash eggplants, happy cooking.

Camera off

5.5 hours of sleep. Camera off and sartorial standards definitely less than professional for morning tech-Zoom. This one is important about money issues. Not ready to give up my news junkie habits. It might or might not  make a difference about sleep. I like to entertain the point that praying a. makes a difference and b. takes SOME level of wakefulness. Definitely dragging today. Depressed about clogged sink and slow response from filing a work order. And I need to bound out of bed tomorrow to get new COVID booster Not to mention all the to-do's

Warcraft VERY sardonically with unhelpful opinions from "Elon Muskovite"

Image
About 5.5 hours of sleep. More is never terrible. I am still tired of wildfire smoke.

Kesha & Old Crow Medicine Show Perform “Wagon Wheel” | CMT Crossroads

Image
6+ hours of sleep. Good exercise and sunshine are also a VERY good thing. Wagon Wheel does not hold up as well to quest for different versions as other earworms but it's Monday and the sun is shining and I am tired of wildfire smoke in my eyes and nose and throat. And God is otherwise bountiful :-(

Ouch Oops Whoa Early enough to feel sleep deprived

About 4 hours of sleep. I spent a good chunk of the evening turning ingredients into food. I intended to make stuffed peppers but at a certain point I abandoned that aspiration and chopped up the peppers into the quinoa stew.

Cancer Baby guide to making people feel at home at Tech meetup

just over 4 hours of sleep. To bed way to late and / or awakened earlier than I needed to make it to tech meetup. Today's meetup featured lots of blind-friendly iPhone / iOS minutiae. I use Android but I am glad everyone else found the space valuable including guy developing Smart glasses. Too many strands of possible anxieties. Multilingual news is a mixed blessing.
