Ghost Town

Somewhere close to 6 hours of sleep including

more than 2 hours in chair after excursion downtown

3 hours in bed from 3-6

two more hours after breakfast

Yes I know, the numbers ... 6... so the numbers are squishy.

Excursion downtown was because of firemen in lobby and more elevator and I opted just to make the cat wait, not walk the stairs right then and instead go out to forage for food. Essential trip to whichever food destination is served by the first bus that comes by. Plus I needed tapioca and there are good takeout options at Uwajimaya

Somewhere in here I think I did NOT work in a full NYT crossword puzzle.

Excursion downtown sort of hit the minimum daily walking but it was a drag in several ways.

Uwajimaya is closing at 8. I think that is earlier since the protest began.

Lots of things in the ID have windows boarded up with particle board. Some stores such as the 4th and Jackson bartells are open but with boarded up windows. #CHAZ on Capital Hill is, by all accounts, lovely, and ....

Supper wound up being pea salad and a glorious white roll and meat sandwich with a chicken wrap for today and a stash of lightly salted almonds for times ahead because food situation is likely to get harder in lots of ways. Got a bus where I had to change to get a bus that goes right by my building. I was still eating the pea salad when the first one came by. It also said Sorry Full. But god it was nice just to be out and moving.

Other people besides me comment on the state of downtown.

Bus drivers DID open ADA area for my cane. Naively I think this should be automatic but it is not always.

I made chocolate milk with some TJ Chocolate mint powder left over from Christmas and one of the quarts of way past date milk no one in the lobby wanted. Also snagged two pre-made dinners involving legumes left with the same delivery. Other households I think in much worse food shape than I am but if they are afraid of lentils with pollock, afraid enough to let it thaw unclaimed in the lobby...
