Dishes still dirty

almost six hours of sleep. Ok, ok, ok. One of these days I will figure out the bluetooth interface to my phone so I can see for myself what the machine is registering. This morning the cat was definitely in Wake Up Human mode.

A full zoom before I got there, a sahd of sleep and then a huge zoom

Barely over 4 hours of sleep. Not counting the nap after the cheese puffs Ugh  Still wired long into the night about testimony. Spent part of blind people zoom turning ingredients into food. Good use of time but the kitchen still needs HELP. Meaningful conversations on the smart blind people zoom. I do not know whether it is reasonable to hope that nonviolence will prevail and the invading army will put down weapons and start sabotaging tanks. But I find it useful to believe that is possible. There was a Quakers in Kiev Zoom late at night Seattle Time. It was full But an email came with new time, new link and capacity of 500. I wound up not going back to bed. I even decided that I can risk Zooming across god knows what surveillance into a war zone on my own phone. At max there were 457 people there. That is a lot of people and a lot of people who needed to greet each other. So off and on the whole worship there were alternating spells of popcorn and people pleading out loud or in t...

The Joys of Multitasking

Image
About 5.5 hours of sleep Late night showers are amazing--except for the part about braided post-shampooing hair stays damp well into the next day. Today's fun is Senate Ways and Means committee marathon. Bill I am testifying PRO is #46 on agenda. after 7 hours they are somewhere around bill #32 on agenda  Signed in on phone and half-listening while I work on other stuff on computer. Talk about hearing voices in my head. Hazing bill testimony gut-wrenching. Also bills about mental health issues. Cat on her command post Funky lunch menu: Reese's cups, celery, cheese sticks, mandarins

What? ANOTHER hearing?

Image
Another ALMOST six hours night.  The another hearing is Ways and Means tomorrow at 9:00 am Two vaccine signs in different scale  sun was gorgeous today. I even went out in it and Grocery outlet was nowhere near as crazy as sometimes on a Friday afternoon. PS. I'm fully vaxxed. But I have paper and a fat marker and a text message.

Multilingual Doomscrolling before bed?

Image
Well over5 hours of sleep. Even clost to 6. More would have been good but I owed the world some Senate committee testimony. The testimony got VERY helpful editing and turned out great. Now to supplement the verbal comments with 5000 characters of additional wisdom within the filing deadling. Momentos from a trip to Kiev / Kyiv As for the doomscrolling, it turned out matter to text someone with "What do you think?" Someone reminded methat despite a whole lot of things someone is still proud of where he was born. Someone is also in touch on Facebook with friends who live in places under attack. We both hope they can stay safe.

When The Levee Breaks feat. John Paul Jones | Playing For Change | Song ...

Image
Not quite 5 hours of sleep. I wavered between lying in bed and being warm a bit longer and being sure to have time for a shower. The shower and the hungry cat won. This morning's sleep curtailment was two different state Senate hearings, one of which I was supposed to testify at. That part got postponed until tomorrow. Charitably, Republicans from Eastern WA just needed to be Republicans. It was entertaining. And maybe just as well things held over until tomorrow. Maybe there will be fewer construction noises. Was this hearing worth waking up for? Modest entertainment value. PS. It's always bad policy to start a war and Twitter thinks airlines should just refuse to fly in and out of Russia for a week at a time to see if Putin budges.

Have celery Ready to Roll

Image
about 5.5 hours of sleep. Definitely could have slept longer. Snow on window ledge and roof and trees ALMOST made it about some must-do laundry before the Amazon fresh order arrived. As it was the arrival text was a good excuse to pull my clothes from the dryer even though a few of them were still damp. It's winter. We need all the humidity we can get. Never mind that the human is too much of a bleeping fresh air feak and the cat is observing the current visitation of winter from under the covers on the bed. I have never been so happy about a really fresh nicely formed bunch of celery in my life. I will have to saute it up with some onions and freeze a lot of it but somehow that feels manageable.  Then there is the get the brain back from events even when the body never left. Happy Tuesday.

zoom vacations are still exhausting

almost 5 hours of sleep. I GUESS early worship sharing was worth it. I can sleep longer tomorrow. I have laundry to do. We down 1 washer and two dryers but after clearing the building of ... now the laundry is FREE. There is just always a queue.

Face it: I'm a singing snob. Rehearsing never hurts

about 4.5 hours of sleep Had I known the Amazon Fresh order was not going to materialize, I would have freaking GONE BACK TO BED when I woke up. The FLGBTQC midwinter gathering is a rich experience. Monday is too full. MUST PICK UP eye drops prescription. The one ingredient eyedrop makes eyes itch MUCH less than the two ingredient one. Not even going to ask Dr. will tell him though. Who puts an ophtahlmology practice in a parking garage anyway? And I completely spaced out during the Durule setting of Ubi Caritas for Compline. Focus. Focus. The music is still calming.

And in THIS time zone

Image
About 5 hours of sleep. Cat pic of the week The cat was VERY insistent about BREAKFAST TIME. After she woke me up, she promptly went back to sleep. Nailed the last 6 letters of the crossword puzzle before the morning Zoom fight against racism? Climate change? well actually on the edge in a car trip at the cabaret. The cabaret was WONDERFUL.  Still sitting with the rest of the day. Some was wonderful....

Death with Dignity, birth doulas and ....

Image
5 hours of sleep Up in time to shower before the legislative hearing even though I was spectating and not on camera. Girls just wanna have fun. Friday is Prime Day. One box, to hold all the recyclable bags. Cripes. When I shop I reuse my bags. It's just the carrying home. A recyclable box of bags to be recycled.

if the first email generates an Arrrgh Call me text

4 hours of sleep So much for good intentions. By the time I fed the cat and dealt with the Arrgh-evoking email and resulting phone call there was no point in going back to bed. It was still dark. So much for good intentions about more sleep. Still to do: look up the pharmaceutical insert for one of my eye drops and make triple sure to take the right one at night.Being educated with internet access is so much fun. Tomorrow is another day.

The machine says....

I THINK last night was close to 6 hours of sleep. I saw the sleep doctor for the first time since the pandemic. The machine says I am doing better about steady schedule.  The machine says I am averaging about 1/2 hour more of sleep per night. The machine says I am still averaging less than 5 hours of sleep per night. And it took me all freaking day once I got home with interruptions to write about 600 words. They are awesome words!

Eat Poptarts and flame away or....

Respectable six hours of sleep.  More would not be terrible.  So would more exercises even though the neck pt is a big help also not terrible would be less late night online shopping: if I want delivery of concrete blocks to brace bed and spend a total of $50 oh look repotting and gardening so MAYBE. It's Tuesday so no shower but a quarterly morning Zoom. And a zoom where networking and feedback in the chat is really wonderful and joining with two devices so I can both see people and have some other accessibility pluses is on point: except when people post in the chat while I am unmuted and I get to share my deliberate Zoom screen reader experience with the whole world whether they want it or not. Definitely not eating too late is good. So is checking the nuts and bolts on the estupidest bed frame design in my life. Now, real food and a walk and then see if tirade is needed or MAYBE I can focus on.... Oh hell. Lunch will be: 1 small can of low salt V8 juice 2 mozzarella sticks...

Shoulda just gone to visit Mom

A solid four hours of sleep. Yeah. I absolutely should have just gone to bed earlier. I also should have tried harder to go visit Mom. I still would not have gotten done all I hoped, but I would be out in sun exercising. Happy Valentine's day

The new platform bed romance is OVER

Image
Almost 6 hours of sleep. I think I WILL still find some concrete blocks. The bed, stuff bracing one leg and the cat litter box barrier I have been beset by two strands of advice about the idiotic design of the braces that hold the bed platform up.: --Power tools and change the nut and bolt options. --Call customer services and make them take it all back. Like how much time do I have to spend in phone queue hell? And where am I supposed to sleep in the meantime. Luckily 1. The ill-fated frame has bars connecting the legs on both ends. 2. RantWoman has things that can be stored under the bed in ways that can brace and make it a lot harder for the bed to collapse. 3. Use of the store of fresh cat litter to keep the mattress from smashing into the wall will help. 4. One way or another RantWoman WILL get some concrete blocks. 5. There is always the more elaborate blog post option.

First buy lemons. Then launder sleepwear. Then, ...the k-k-k-itchen

Almost 5 hours of sleep. Knots of impatience when just SLEEPING would be a better idea. As if I am not strung out enough already. Lemons are last night and realization that I would shop at almost any grocery store at the lemon-buying location even if ...  And laundering sleepwear is because designated sleepwear is longer and therefore more decent for running around apartment and cleaning than other things I do in fact sleep in.  But sometimes my psyche knows things I don't. Washing the sleepwear first thing in long purple bathrobe before Saturday shower meant I got to talk to one of my favorite neighbors. Neighbor has been hiding at home more than usual because of pandemic and he shared yucky medical stuff. And I took note that current laundry configuration has only one floor level dryer, a drag if a wheelchair user and a short Asian person both want to dry clothes. Like I need another thing to help get in people's faces about.

"Let's confer as bling people"

Image
Respectable six hours of badly needed sleep. The bed did okay despite not yet having my preferred reinforcements installed. Preferred reinforcement? CINDER BLOCKS cost about $2.00 each at Lowe's. Six of them should rock for what is needed. except I don't feel like pushing a shopping cart full of cinder blocks home and so far I have not managed to charter a car-trip from anyone I know.  What else would I feel like buying to get to $50 and delivery? A large box of cat litter costs about $30. My bed stability hack may also involve cat litter, as well as a "The romance is over product review / blog post.. "Let us confer as bling people" is not even autocorrect, just my hiccupy typing. And if I were totally blind I would not have to explain glasses on my face or why I care about crappy lighting and no trash disposal at the bus stop. Consider today's, horrors, Amazon Fresh transportation moments. We will not discuss the kitchen clutter that I fled just to walk up a...

Whine of the day and can anyone get some concrete blocks around here?

Image
les than 4 hours of sleep not counting dozing earlier. The biggest darn ladder truck in the house Why so little? NOTHING like being rudely interrupted by bed doing what I was afraid it might do, collapsing, smushing me against the wall in a way that took several tries to crawl out of. I put it back together well enough HOPEFULLY to get some sleep if I move strategically. But tomorrow I look for some cement blocks and order another box of cat litter to try to figure out options to reinforce. And the title? I know firefighters shop for the whole house and for a week or so. I know from shopping for a 20-person college co-op that it does not take a whole darned ladder truck to take home a week's groceries. Then there is the part about parking in the bus stop. Big Frownie face.

Subtracting sleep and adding carbs doesn't help

about 5 hours of sleep. Late night cheese crackers are unsatisfactory sleep aid. Frustrating when supper schedule gets kinked by meetings. Buying ice cream sandwiches instead of ice cream is excellent portion control. Not hitting the right vegetable balance. THREE alumni-related zooms in 3 days is also weird time travel. Hello. welcome to freshman year. Did you know that what was then a 3-person suite formerly housed on Princeton man and his slave. Brain is SO scattered when I am underslept. VERY wise yesterday to skip an in-person thing I inadvertantly double-booked. VERY helpful to hea punch list items addressed. And a shout out for Ursula Franklin quaker physicist and also for Nancy Amidei who is always willing to be  bribed with chocolate

COVID among white tailed deer. In case we don't have enough else to fret about

Image
about 5 hours of sleep. Crossword addiction? Deer-themed bedtime doom scrolling How much other trouble NOT to get into. Not enough walking. DO BETTER TODAY.

It's in Rules

Not quite six hours of sleep. Quaker lobby day so be showered and presentable as befits a Monday morning.  I LOVE virtual events even though something is making my eyes itch. As for "It" above, "my" bill which of course is definitely not only my bill about prescription labelling is in Rules committee headed for a floor vote in the House. Excellent collaboration. Excellent progress especially considering some serious novice elements. But anyway it's in Rules

COVER: No Synths? Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) -

Image
About 4.5 hours of sleep Not counting dozing earlier before I woke up enough to Zoom some more I was trying to write more of an outline than I wrote. It turned out what I had was more than enough even though i did not go near.... Covering the Eurhythmics without synths is, um, interesting. Cover the Eurhythmics fine, but with more life than this.

Today's Anthem Sage Francis - "VONNEGUT BUSY" lyric video

Image
Almost six hours of sleep A gift from, well is it fair to call a journalist who had one eye shot out by a sharpshooter while covering George Floyd protests last year a wounded warrior?  The day is not QUITE so in your face but I did not consume near enough sunshine. I did get my new calendars both hung up. I still need to read the braille on the braille one.

Not enough exercise

almost seven hours of sleep  thank you going back to bed Got to a lot but definitely not all of my to-do list. Not enough exercise. A common problem when I just eat from what's on hand.

Calendars AT LAST

reasonably close to six hours of sleep AND no late night videos on the big screen. Today's big errand was to fetch calendars I did not get around to ordering before the new year and that were languishing for about a week at my mailbox.  NO freaking idea why the expedition was so exhausting. VERY good news: my brother called my / our mother yesterday. No, he still can't keep a cellphone but he's still in Denver and seems to have someplace to stay besides the tent encampment that got cleared for some kind of construction project. Anyway did my chat awhile ago with the missinger persons detective awhile ago have any connection to the call? WHO CARES? On the other hand....

Rodent Weather Prognostication

5+ hours of sleep in bed and more falling asleep in chair. I know the CPAP is working not only from breathing workout but also from  needing to keep adding water. Yeah for camera off Zoom meetings when one has not achieved professional sartorial standards. Groupies who need actual groundhog images are invited to use their search engines. Plowing through a lot of ad and cookie gunk is too tiresome.... Late-breaking from RantWoman's text streams Groundhog with sign

Because Everyone needs rampaging cellos sometimes 2CELLOS - Eye Of The Tiger [OFFICIAL VIDEO]

Image
5+ hours of sleep. Another hour would have been good except my latenight Amazon fresh order arrived early in my window. Purr. Now I have YAMS ! Also clean sheets and fluffed bedding are the best. Late night in the laundry room is SO much better now that certain, um, challenged souls infesting corners of the building have been routed elsewhere. I know,. Infesting is not the most quakerly word. Hold all  afflicted in the Light. PS #HappyLunarNewYear. It's a complete accident that the Eye of the Tiger post falls at the beginning of the Year of the Tiger
