The literary dimensions of toenail clippings

Almost 5 hours in bed and at least another hour nodding off while watching videos. Doing Twitter at 3 am is BARELY forgiveable and in this case only because I came across the wonderful work of a Kazakh historian about the end of nuclear testing and inherited nuclear weapons in Kazakhstan. GO CIVIL SOCIETY. Sorry the current government is so... but awesome work in the past. And the other thing: yesterday i forgot my most important accomplishment of the day: I got the gnarly weird toenail on the little toe of my right foot trimmed. Relaxed body, enough light even though that is hardly the point if I can't see the angle anyway, and my kickass toenail scissors all lined up. The chunk I clipped off is the size of a piece of gravel. Probably the world thinks it can live without further literary explorations of the topic, but maybe.  Now to the rest of the inbox. Happy Monday. I already want a nap.

Chase dreams?

4+ hours of sleep.  Chase dreams before waking up once and then AGAIN when I fell back asleep. Somehow perhaps linked with late night viewing amusement: WALEG House transportation committee commute trip reduction and other transportation issues. One of those great moments when "Right Sharing of World resources" goes straight to WA transportation tax and housing policy.

Tina tuba tuna, not Wordie just possible dinner autocorrected

About 6 hours of sleep. More would have been good but I aspired to more chores than I got done. Instead I decided to procrastinate zooming with one of my blind zoom channels. They were glad to see me and I was glad for people I met. I got hair washed and trash taken out. Dishwashing STILL needs to happen. And despite initial thoughts of tuna, dinner turned out to be sardines with mustard on toast and a powdered milk mocha, maybe not the best idea in the evening, but live dangerously and Zoom with some more blind people, some of whom were snowed in in MA

Feng Shui the new office?

Somewhere around 6 hours of sleep.  Not quite sure why, aside from taking a shower, it was not possible to do much else before setting out on the great eye doctor expedition. Eyes are basically fine but young doc following remembers the weird eczema I get every year this time of year. Somehow it matters a lot even though it's not obvious what to do about it. Eye doctor has new office--hidden from street in part of a parking garage. Once I got good directions I found it fine, more or less. Decor is completely different which isn't necessarily terrible. Trying to decide if a touch of feng shui would help.

Giddy from sunshine and squash salad with possible digression to Norman St

somewhere close to 5 hours of sleep in bed after a couple in the chair. Eating late at night is such a mixed idea. Also closing the blinds DOES make better sleep maybe because instead of starlight there are bright street lights. The squash salad was part of a trip to the coffee shop when everyone else due at an in-person meeting was going to be late. I recommend buy again if I have a chance, especially since I didn't fine the yam and black bean burritos I sometimes get.  As for Norman st, partly not so secret quest for world domination in the form of safe continuous travel networks for all modes of transportation, faith communities good not only for families willing to drive a long way to be together but also for people who walk or bike.. As for why besides bus stops and changing neighbors Norman St comes to mind.... And HALLELUJAH it's still light at 5 pm

All that trouble just to SIGN MY NAME

Image
Almost 6 hours of sleep. Not counting dozing in the chair while getting my last video fix.     Another sleeping cat pic The world is entitled to a blog post about the signing my name thing. Stay tuned.

Coleslaw

almost 6 hours of sleep! The CPAP stayed on all night--after I figured out where I put the mask after I cleaned it. Need sleep much? My chest muscles feel a little like there is a workout happening. Note to self. Remember to tell sleep doctor at appointment in February. I still owe the world a blog post about why I wish Taco Time would just freaking use the ingredients they have and sell coleslaw. Today though, go full out for nutritionally appalling

Time machine and cuddly creatures

Almost 7 hours of sleep. This included going back to bed, lunch / breakfast, and still a scramble toshower and do even minimal prep before a 1 pm Zoom that I thought was at 1:30. For late night viewing / distraction pleasure choose from: --compline where sometimes different words most definitely would be fine with me --cute animals nurturing other cute animals --Time machine  Youtube brings the Eurhythmics --the latest WTAF bilge connected to January 6 --cue the Jaws theme: dunt dunt shark or just Putin and Ukraine. Hello the US just got out of 20 years of quagmire in Afghanistan Two free masks got delivered to my door today. There are two empty apartments on my end of the floor. The apartment across the hall should just grab the extra masks. And everyone EVERYONE should just freaking WEAR THEM Happy Monday.

GLow in the dark Jesus

Image
A solid 5 hours of sleep AND the CPAP stayed on all night. Knock on wood the new outlet made a difference..  More sleep would not be terrible. Working on that. Lined up a bunch of cans, stuff to move along in the universe. Food I won't eat eve in a pandemic. Not sure anyone else should either but now the cans I want to keep fit in the shelves. Worship through a device is a whole new zone of temptation. Not just make a mental grocery list but keepa da mitts out of the app.   And then there is glow in the dark Jesus or more precisely glow in the dark crucifix. SO grateful to have been spared that in childhood. Bus shelter joy

Critical Race Theory?

Image
The cat napping in the human's warm seat print Somewhere over 7 hours because I WENT BACK TO BED. Maybe the CPAP inconsistency really IS the outlet. I will try a different outlet tonight but I realized I already know I DO have a bad circuit in my apartment  As for the title: smart blind people zoom and a Black law professor.

Avid in crossword puzzles and scan reports

5+ hours of sleep. The cat was NOT doing her wake the human thing and I really would have been glad to grab another hour of sleep but I was also kind of wired for a morning phone editing thing As for "avid," another time..

Sure, Blame the cat

close to 6 hours of sleep. cat was, um insistent, about timing of breakfast. It would be hilarious if I hadn't been hoping for another 40 wink s before I needed to go out. On the other hand, it was GLORIOUS to be out.   Sense of progress matters. So do weird dynamics of trust with someone who has way worse trust issues than I do AND ability to talk down some of the worst ideas.

Socks

5+ hours of sleep. Showered and upper half dressed before 9 am Zoom. Luxurious unto decadence to be at a professional Zoom and only getting socks on by the end. Other than that, I keep going out of apartment and across the breezeway to computer lab we are no way ready to open in person. Never mind though. The clear air, the out of doors just, just "this is the day the lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Writing an Oh wait that's me recollection as part of legislative comment, so I also need to do some grownup tasks like, um pay rent. Happy Wednesday.

Lunch with Other People

Image
about 4 hours of  sleep.  Cat doing Queen of the World ontop of some clutter It could have been a little more but an 8 am state senate hearing was one constraint. Weird how watching one video made my CLIMB THE WALLS a lot less. The next hiccup in another part of schedule at least left time--and menu raves--for lunch from taco Time. Livin' LARGE

When to drive ... crazy

Image
Almost 7 hours of sleep! Thank you being able to go back to bed after breakfast. CPAP worked the entire second spell but was not doing anything the first time I woke up. Another sunny day on Lake Union shot from Friday the when to drive crazy topic is about newsletters and accessibility and strategies when info overload is already a thing. I am eating well, exercising less well. And filling twitter with MLK retweets of pretty strong flavor. Somehow the strong flavor gives me courage and fortitude to keep at it. Also alumni interviews with Princeton applicants.

Dancing Pineapple and turning ingredients into food.

Image
5.5 hours of sleep. My plot to let God be the alarm clock and basis for one potential confrontational bitch scenario sort of worked. I was up in plenty of time AND decided to cross fingers and hope other people handled ... I was WRONG. Next time do better whatever the $#@$# that looks like. Let's just say DO BETTER NEXT TIME gets to be a pretty insistent theme. Because Everyone needs a dancing pineapple while there are tsunami warnings all over the Pacific Various other options. God took one look at cupboard and suggested that since I am bored with what I have been eating, I should worship by zoom and spend some time turning ingredients into food.  Messages in worship about living in the present sent me off to Latin American magical realism where the timelines are all over the place. Food prepared between yesterday and today. --cabbage and polish sausage 3-4 portions  --baked beans and ham tweaked the way I like them --pumkin custard --5 baked yams. Go orange food.

Everywhere

Image
Somewhere 5+ hours not counting some sleep in chair.  CPAP was on the first time I woke up but not when I woke up the second time and got up.

Supposed to be virtual

Image
somewhere close to 6 hours counting about 1/2 hour of just go back to bed and be warm and breathe with CPAP.   I wondered whether follow up from latest cycle of scan and test might be virtual but the online appointment still said in person. Follow up was "what does that mean? What does that mean?" Basically it's all just data for now. And in April I guess I get to enjoy another test that comes with the word "avid." When there is no bench and one just misses both transit options, time to sunbathe and enjoy the lake One would think if I am awake by 7:30 I could make it out the door in time for transit to a 10:45 appointment in South lake Union. One would think that but one would be WRONG. Add just missing the streetcar and then fogging around for 15 minutes to find the right route up the hill to the door... Blog post possibly due but it was lovely, warm, sunny part of the time and nothing was falling out of the sky. I'll take that!

Fresh cat box day

About 5.5 hours of sleep pin bed plus another hour in the chair before bed. CPAP was off when I woke up. Must troubleshoot. I did whole fresh cat box today. Recent delivery was basically a 4-month supply instead of 2. It came in a helpful box. I am embracing both the ease and the ambivalence of mazon delivery evils. Hopefully the cat is happier. The sun is glorious and I am thrilled that it is again reasonable to go about in sandals and socks. Happy Thursday.

Stairs at 2 am

4.5 hours of sleep Fire alarm sends elevators to main floor. Fire dept couldn't reset. After hours maintenance had not showed up. I get to be mobile enough to climb stairs

No one steals cat litter

Image
about 5.5 hours of sleep. Because everyone needs a screenshot of the delivery success report I could  have lived without the wrong number on my land line at 7 am. Okay, so it got me up. Going back to bed would have been desirable but the legislative calendar waits for no one.   Listening to classical guitar for a bit last night was a nice break from my media diet lately. The cat will be very very very happy soon. The cat litter delivery order made it a day earlier than expected. And the delivery driver left me a nice picture in the app of my door with the box of 33 pounds of cat litter. Such joys. I may have to revise my just let the first bus that comes along determine  routing and just reorient away from one of the more  unmased bus stops in the entire county.

Malfunctioning elevators and killer trees

Image
almost 6 hours of sleep. No idea why the CPAP turned off but I needed to get ready to go to PT. Look, we need the trees, but can we please also get wheelchairs by and not break any ankles? It was a "why does the director of vertical conveyance still have a job?" day at the Northgate light rail station. I could have kissed the cheerful young woman who was very honest about how frustrating it to have to keep telling people about sucky approaches to ADA. After  venting and exchange of not totally helpful information, I finally decided to hell with the mask long enough to get on the escalator down to the bus lane.  And in case I was tempted to to go all tree hugger on any problems one of three fabulous tree root topography moments on my route on Aurora.  Too many emails about new COVID cases. Conversation about how someone's slow-growing breast cancer is elective surgery, probably on hold during the pandemic so sure take time, get another test. And I made one person laugh ver...

Why...texting at 4 am?

4.5 hours of sleep. Not enough and feeling drowsy all day especially including anytime I eat something. I don't like implications of that. So do some PT exercises and ride my exercise bicycle thing for awhile before my next Zoom date. I spent an hour on a Zoom about why I wish ACB would save their money and NOT try to have a hybrid DC seminar. None of the congressional offices are holding meetings in person. We don't need the climate impact of a lot of cross country air travel. We have a ton of members with many comorbidities Way more people can participate when we zoom but a nice airline employee is about  not letting the virus rule our lives. BAH! And I was the only one who brought up the climate. So I am clearly fitting in well in all my circles. I hope the board comes down on save money , make DC all virtual and make hybrid based in OMAHA in the summer real. I don't even want to know the COVID stats in NE and who knows maybe by summer the omicron wave will have burnt ou...

Dressed for the symphony and no symphony

Image
6 ish hours of sleep.  cat pic o' the week I did not even get up the first time I woke up. No idea why the CPAP was off but it turned back on fine and was still on when I woke up the second time. A work call at 10. Wash Hair Put on dress to go to concert Have productive well held Quaker zoom. Okay not perfect but MANY forms of improvement over... Was just about to go get bus to symphony when concert partner called. Concert cancelled. Guess why. No don't guess: blind nurse on Saturday night with smart blind people is up on LOTS of issues.

How can I gripe if the photo didn't happen?

4ish hours of sleep. More CPAP problems. I also should have gone back to bed after I ate something but that did not happen. I hate it when the computer shuts down mid-email. But today my road to virtue includes stowed laundry, clean dishes and compost and trash taken out. Boy was it rainy. Also in person to Amazon Fresh. That place has ridiculous pedestrian / bus customer pathways aside from the usual... And I tried to photograph the line of bikeshare bikes lined up between the exit and teh bus stop, but NO. So I have to trip without photo evidence. Should be FUN.

Insurrection anniversary

5+ hours of sleep. Tonight I get to troubleshoot the CPAP. I woke up with it off. Either the cat or asomething tiresome technical and redundant. Tonight I will put the CPAP under the bed so the cat can't jump on it accidentally. Yesterday i was talking to someone who lives in DC and works near the capitol when everyone is not remote. He said on Jan 6 last year one of the eeriest things was that there were NO helicopters. I did not think to ask whether there were drones. I don't even know what would be a good peace protest remembrance.  I need to think of some other food ordering option. Pizza is too salty. The lege opens Monday.  And I have to-do's in multiple streams. Happy Thursday.

Cold Pizza for Breakfast and arugula salad with spicy dressing for lunch

Image
Not quite 6 hours of sleep. Happy Wednesday with hat and mask Evening media included morbid fascination about CO fire videos and the wonder cat survival story, laugh VERY hard material and of course a lot of stuff that is less laughable. None of this was accompanied by laundry happening so tonight.  In the meantime, back to  early generation masks. And no, a rall turtlenect doesn't do it.  I am so tired of everything to do with pandemic And the menu? I got so exasperated with Amazon fresh non delivery that I ordered pizza and several dressing on the side salads. I feel blessed if not nutritionally perfect.

How many ways will my head explode before breakfast?

I made it to 5 hours of sleep and definitely needed more.I am so glad the cat sometimes wants to help purrmme to sleep but it is not always comfortable to have cat on top of me. Brain space time and electronic schedules were not lining up. Then meetings with strong personalities and then.... Finally I got yams and bananas in grocery delivery. And I need to go do laundry.

Are you by the trash cans and the bus stop?

Image
not quite 6 hours of sleep. Because unshoveled snow on top of uncleared leaves is such a recipe for walkability THANK YOU Amazon (NOT) for not just telling me you need to reschedule my grocery delivery that was set for 8-10 pm. I fell asleep in chair around midnight and made it to actual bed about 2 am but still nailed almost 6 hours of sleep in bed. Woohoo Thank you actually Amazon for the phone call to actually correct your routing so that I don't have to puch through ver y unsatisfying check boxes to complain.

The warm cat furniture is blue today

Image
Somewhere around  5.5 hours of sleep.                             Warmer but the cat still thinks it's too cold Exercise and sleep are out of whack and it's so easy to want to just eat carbs all day. Morbidly fascinated with CO fire disaster videos. Solved the whole Sunday puzzle before bed too..

Not enough chocolate or alcohol

5ish hours of sleep. Nibbled lentil brownies and other chocolate. Alsohol might have helped the occasion but rum in cheap mocha seems like a bad idea and I wasn't quite up to the chocolate chip raspberry ice cream. I heard thuds from fireworks but did not even bother to open blinds to catch what I can see of the space needle. Grateful that between the weather and COVID the neighborhood is joyously free of local displays. Brain is in poetic space. Fingers might not be. Play last year's DDT song alluding to fires in Siberia. Say prayers and gape in morbid fascination about fires in CO. DDT 2020 on Youtube Find myself, as part of my #CivicsForLauren engagement with a certain insurrectionist CO Congresswoman from SW CO, lecturing both said Congressperson and her constituents that instead of swiping up fireworks on social media they should all call up Boulder County OEM and see how God might be asking them to put their hands to work. Grieve Bishop Tutu Make mental list of people liv...
