Insomnia scarves
Approximately FOUR hours of sleep.
And then an early "Please help us..." phone call. Try to strike a balance about getting paid and reasonable scope of work.

Just dealing with post office pink slip, noting the return address off a tiny label, getting the package open and trying to read the labels on the contents other than two gorgeous crocheted scarves. The scarves are very light, an airy pattern that is surprisingly warm in spite of the lightness.
A woman named N sent them. N is in her 70's. I know her from blindness circles. She is from the southern tip of India where 3 continental plates meet. She was trained as a fisheries biologist, what in India is called a green widow, someone who is married but whose husband is never around. When her children were little she did her schoolwork in the middle of the night. Now the non-sleeping persists and she crochets in the dark. I sent her a picture of me and one of the scarves. She was able to see it by putting her computer by the window and using some kind of magnifier. She reminds me to send email in a larger font. There is more to say.

I also gave her permission to call me. If I am awake I will answer and be glad to listen. If I am not awake, the call can go to voice mail because the phone is in the other room when I sleep.
Back to sleep issues I am a grownup. I made the grown up decision to quit trying to write anything and watch news and comedy videos AFTER both of the computer's automated shutdown times: I can cancel if I notice.
I am not sure where all the anxiety was coming from. My mother got to have 3 meals in the dining room at her retirement community. There are fussy details to adjust. Also Mom and pain meds and torn leg tendons are another sore thread.
But for the morning, three all blessed phone calls. And scarves I wish did not come suffused with some kind of possible Indian scent. First world problems.
