Almost full moon From a couple nights ago

Seattle! Tonight's 98.1% moon rising behind the #Seattle skyline and the cascades shot from 10 miles away. October is a great month for moon chasing as the moon is close to full over 3 days. This year the 3 days fell over a weekend and we got unusually clear skies. pic.twitter.com/KBlYvKfFgu — Sigma Sreedharan (@sigmas) October 30, 2023 4.4 hours of sleep Look what happens. I store up sleep and then it's cat videos and wars and the soap opera that is the gumming of the US of A Tonight it will be worship with Kyiv.

People sending out scenery

One of the key things that keeps X formerly Twitter from turning into a total cesspool is people who send out pictures of scenery. Here is an item from Iowa. This is the Iowa River at sunset, near Marshalltown, Iowa. At left is a sun pillar, a relatively rare, atmospheric event scene, sometimes at sunset. pic.twitter.com/yTgBpJtksF — Bill Schrier (@billschrier) October 30, 2023 5.6 hours of sleep. Bright sunny day.  Braille embosser lesson for staff. Writing tasks where I am just going to make comments and not work too hard to fit them into a full framework for now. And then there is the one about Dear Supreme Court....

BUDS!

Image
Hard to see in the photo but the Christmas Cactuses have BUDS 5.9 hours of sleep. Apparently I needed it.  But I woke up in time for porridge AND meeting, well not International Ukraine meeting but oh well. I want a few groceries. I also want more sleep. AND  I still mean to WRITE SOMETHING. I think I should grab some afternoon sun.

Discoverable

Heh. Blind people need to charge devices at conferences. The odds they will spontaneously discover a whole table full of outlet pairs without someone telling them they are there. ... Look Look. Charge devices here. Also give walking directions relative to the entrance to the restaurant. Please don't mix up left and right. I shot a photo of a whole table of such devices. Then I had to go look in a couple places to find the photo on my goshdarn NEW PHONE. In other related commentary: I can live without the flowery air freshener. I can SORT of live with paying outrageous hotel prices for ordinary things like bananas AS LONG AS there is decent chance that those I pay are earning a decent wage AND there is someone available to just take my money and not ask what latte I want. Such first world problems 5.9 hours of sleep. I survived the wonders and vagaries of Sound Transit vertical conveyance. I am not as charmed by escalators as I was in my outrageous youth but I COPED! More to say but...

Brain cleanse with cat vid: Stray Cat Decides To Move Into Guy’s House | The Dodo Cat Crazy

Image
5.6 hours of sleep. FUN vendors at Convention LOTS of good conversations and meeting people in person or seeing them after a good break. COLD in the spaces where we meet and sleep schedule rattled because of wanting to make it in time for keynote. I am glad I still have it in me to do transit and not try to tote life off to hotel for 3 nights. Shower before bed helps SO much except for the part about washing hair and braiding it so it's not quite dry and one wakes up cold in the morning. Beautiful sunny day. And Sound Transit gods of "vertical conveyance" looked favorably on my journeys.

Brain cleanse Gordon Hirabayashi

Image
Youtube noted the recent 40th anniversary of the Korematsu vs US corum novis decision overturning the original Supreme Court ruling against Korematsu. The Korematsu case is related to another one related to Gordon Hirabyashi. This vid later showed up in my feed. It makes me smile. 5 hours of sleep after 5 loads of wash. Maybe I should not try to edit blog post while doing webinar. Maybe time for chair exercises and the under the desk bicycle exerciser.

Cat Decides To Move Into This Guy's House | The Dodo Cat Crazy

Image
NICE cate video and I logged off and WENT TO BED at a semi decent hour 6.0 hours of sleep! up in time for Wednesday webinar. also in time for breakfast and modest stretches and aerobics

Three dog turds, a gravitationally challenged junk food machine, and SNOW giddiness even if the snow is miles and miles away.

Image
3 dog poops on an otherwise white floor 5.0 hours of sleep. I am glad I did not get up and do laundry when I was having trouble falling asleep. THANK HEAVEN I also have a repaired toilet. I think I probably still need to keep nagging management every time the dog poop appears.  Blind people clean up after their dots in LOTS of situations much harder than a plain white floor.  I don't care if the view makes me a judgmental witch. The question is what level of sucking up would make me okay with just getting out the toilet paper and cleaning up the poop myself? And in case anyone thought vending machine vandalism would go away when things went cashless, and with a card reader above MY head, guess what! Machine does seem arbitrary about when it actually dispenses product but... knocked over vending machine protected by caution tape

5.6 hours of sleep. I WANT MY TOILET TO GET FIXED! Early morning stroll across the breezeway weirdly evokes fond memories of a fall living in the country with outdoor facilities. And the relevant second choice toilet also needs repair but needs a different person to authorize. Still usable but...

Back to Therapeutic cat vids Grumpy Street Cat GRANDPA to foster kittens

Image
4.5 hours of sleep. wired and full of ideas I might not get combed into coherent sentences. Policing plastics: medical supplies, disposable diapers, wider circles blurting out "no you don't " to radio for various flavors of BS I love FANWA

Cat vids are TOO MUCH so let's go PURPLE

Image
Yes, it MOVES 2.2 hours of sleep.  HOPEFULLY tonight will be better. We will not discuss from when to when or the schedule before or what all I was NOT getting done. We can discussed home zombie conversion kit soon to be available as a sponsor for your favorite channel. Blindness group was good by which I mean key people were not there but necessary things ran smoothly and got done. Alas, not there people to whom I can say "I am fabulous but can do cranky quickly if needed." I also confirmed what others had heard: a neighbor who worked at the Lighthouse for the Blind died suddenly of a stroke recently. He and braille are part of a conversation I get to have next week but at least it's gentler than another neighbor a few years ago. Management was trying not to say anything until I said "well it's ALL OVER Facebook because his FB pals were who asked for a welfare check. Now to all the bits of writing and email I owe the world. Expectations. Expectations Merry fal...

Cat videos. Lots more cat videos. Somewhat unsatisfying but not time yet to just GET ANOTHER CAT Meanwhile, journey into fair use and I am absolutely FINE with the giant electronic watermark to ensure proper credit. So glad I am not expected to buy something from all the ad pics. Fall cornucopia with various gourds 5.4 hours of sleep. Notice on door last night. Part is on order for toilet. So glad I can easily get to other options. It's my brother's birthday. I wish the good parts of my brother were around. I also just hope brother is safe in his own terms. And I am trying not to use the word GHOULISH in connection with absence from a celebration. Still trying to find the way to KEEP SAYING that it is GHOULISH to exclude people from live events and then decide it's a kindness to say "memorials". Anyway Congratulations about the celebration. Maybe there is no right way to say it and maybe it still needs to be said.

Cat video Therapy: Cat Hides From Her Foster Mom For A Year — Then She Does This | The Dodo...

Image
who needs political orruption, partisanship, endless wars, threatened climate when we have CAT VIDEOS? 4.2 hours of sleep. Shower and nag the office about a plumber to fix my toilet. So much to do and follow up on and I just want to eat bon-bons and lounge in a decent chair, the kind of decent recliner I don't have. Happy Thursday world

Instead of music...a sunset

A break from quirky woodwinds etc.   And sunset. pic.twitter.com/LA75AOvfeC — Leland Hermit (@AngeloBCollie) October 19, 2023 5.5 hours of sleep Toilet still does not work. I do not know whether my work order has been received.

In Lieu of cat videos La malagueña salerosa

One of these days I WILL look up the origin and lyrics for this song 5.0 hours of sleep. LOTS of cat videos. Not sure about this eating late in the evening. Probably not a great idea even if one exercises on the little bicycle. So much news Zombie and Stephen Colbert has COVID so he sounds not great and the home broadcast is such a different thing from live audience.....

Look. It's hunting season? Shoot The Turkey Buzzard

Image
5.6 hours of sleep. Followed by VIRTUE in the form of floor mopping! I still need another round but things look SO MUCH better.  Now for signing in and updating passwords on a bunch of apps on my NEW PHONE. So much gratitude/

Accidentally topical music I'll Fly Away - Ransomed Bluegrass

5.4 hours of sleep. Round trip and mom hugs are the best. Conversation: car crash and two seriously injured church youth Brother  Glasses Deaths Human Composting

5.3 hours of sleep or MAYBE 5. Have to check. Contemplating posting on theme of song in way that WILL be controversial. Up and presentable in time to get out door and...MISS THE START OF THE #White.CaneDay walk. Oh well. Got to the end of walk party early so more time for important and useful conversations. Lovely fall day and  Universe eventually delivered both the coffee and the almond croissant I was craving.

Oh hell. Let's DANCE Ismael Campanero - Bach cello suite No.3 in C major, BWV 1009: Gigue

Image
4.4 hours of sleep. Sometimes cheap food bought on Amazon has sulfites. I am VERY frustrated about phone issues.    But, SURE, Let's dance

More Bassoon Imperialism Turkish March by Beethoven for Bassoon Trio | SHEET MUSIC

Image
Bassoon imperialism: rearranging music written for other instruments to be performed by all bassoon ensembles. 4.2 hours of sleep. Up in time for 9 am zoom. Barbecue was lovely. Other meetings sustain.

One of those start with the basics and practice items: Bach, Concerto italiano Fagott Klasse Bozen.

Image
The YouTube description talks about this as a good class exercise or music studio recital piece. Plus it's Bach 5.1 hours of sleep. What to say. Digestive system seems odd enough that I should probably track and report to doctor. Phone charging continues uneven and like I need a new phone and need to wade through a bunch of online jargon to solve a few different things. I did not make it out of bed in time to finish floor scrubbing the rest of the kitchen. HOPEFULLY that can happen later. And very late night email was HOPEFULLY innocuous enough that it was safe to send after email witching hour.

It's the Symphony from memory part....

Image
6.1 hours of sleep! Amazing what trying to go to bed at a decent hour does. I cleaned enough of my floor to have the new chair come and to hug a wonderful woman named Nagu who seems to worship me. She is 82 and headed off to south India to see family. She is dark skinned and "the blind child" except she is formidable in so many ways. I think I want to see if the chair would work for my mother. I also have SO MUCH to deal with in my apartment. And it is MUCH better not to get sucked too far into the news streams no matter how addictive.

Earthquake????

The headline on the Seattle Times site says "Did you feel the earthquake?" No but apparently my building did because earthquake was the first thing I thought of when the door suddenly did not want to move back and forth. 3.2 hours of sleep. I HAVE to call the CPAP place tomorrow. It MIGHT also be time to get a new phone....

Summoning calm from SOMEWHERE Janos Starker - Kodály Cello Solo Sonata III. Mvt

Image
4.3 hours of sleep. Body said I need a shower (before a ZOOM meeting for cripes sake) more than another hour of sleep. Um, okay and reheated casserole for breakfast for which I am grateful.

Turkey Buzzard Tune with pineapple

Image
An excellent pinapple I am negligentin not saving enough info to properly credit  Also "Shoot that turkey buzzard" alas does not have its own Wikipedia page and I only have patience to look at one resource per night. So check out this recording company https://juneappalrecordings.bandcamp.com/track/shoot-that-turkey-buzzard And now sleep you ask? 5.4 hours  A lively open house that did not go as planned because it was not planned with a couple key pieces of info in mind. But always opportunities to train someone.      I did not hit the right techno incantations to turn the pineapple into tactile art as desired. Rock on, another day.

If I slept more would I need the Shoot That Turkey Buzzard song less?

Image
wikimedia error when I take lazy path to looking up origin of the song title. So any excuse for more bluegrass tomorrow. 3.2 hours of sleep in bed. And another hour or so just being warm and immobile after breakfast.  Minimum standards of dress for professional things: have a bra on during Zoom. But the shower happened after the first Zoom and I STILL need to clean my floor. Manana...

Intstrumental. ENJOY Jose Feliciano - Malagueña

Image
I still mean to look up the lyrics for Malaguena but please enjoy the instrumental      5.3 hours of sleep. Awake in time for morning techno zoom. Not as engaging as some and webinar format is less interactive but sigh. Good meeting this afternoon that now I have to write up. And handing out advice multiple directions.

Another day that needs this title: Shoot That Turkey Buzzard - Clifftop 2015

Image
Title still on the Mean to Research list. Maybe the day is better through bluegrass. 4.2 hours of sleep. Shower before therapy. What a weird news day. What a weird advocacy issues day.

But it's sung in Japanese Shoot That Turkey Buzzard 「のすり」

Image
If one doesn't know the meaning of a song title it's even better if there are lyrics in a language on doesn't speak. Fun performance, though more restrained than bluegrass usually is at home. 6.1 hours of sleep. And I could have slept more. Late night carbs did not interfere. Cough is easier and way more productive than it was..

the Bassoon Quartet doesHarlequin, Mozart Figaro

Joyful exuberant more bassoon imperialism 3.2 hours of sleep Late night showers are great for relaxtion but washing hair SUCKS as far as waking up cold. Apartment needs help on the cleanliness front and I have electronic CHORES to attend to. Happy october
