Australian horse breeder revives water ecology in New South Wales

Image
Willows only grow where water exists. They are not weeds of national significance natural sequence farming Ecological renewal is SO soothing. 5:56 hours of sleep. Shampoo managed. Trying to get motivated to take compost out and tackle some more home decor. But it's the solstice and there is legit quest for turning points.

Tuxedo cat attempts to offer home decor advice

Not even trying to analyze how much of this drama queen's chronicle is pure AI.  5:56 hours of sleep. TWO DAYS of socializing and the full menu of PT exercises. Ibuprofen and a banana at 3:30 am helped A LOT about muscle cramps and sleep.

White beans, antiinflammatory

This sounds like a fun recipe. It also sounds like a recipe that one should make when there are other people around to eat it or else one will be eating bean salad all week, not necessarily a bad thing in hot weather. 5:56 hours of sleep. I have been increasing the number of reps I do even when I do not add resistance. After Yesterda's agony, body did REALLY well for excursion to Juneteenth. Excursion was hot and full of things on lumpy ground to trip over but NICE family space. Late lunch with PICS mentee and honest conversation about life. Sweet

Austrian Famer and the power of observation, permaculture, never mind official policy

Can anyone tell that ecological restoration in almost any form is extremely calming? 5:18 hours of sleep. I went to bed to late but was able both to go back to bed and to wake up in time for Zoom commitments. Amazon order arrived before the Zoom timeline so I could put away my icecream. TOTAL grocery bliss about two items: --some archway molasses cookies bought on a whim because I did not want to spend $20 on ginger snaps. --TOTAL BANANA BLISS: A nice clump that will last all week. Ther PERFECT level of greenness and the perfect size. That is my level of bliss. Also relevant: I needed to pick up prescriptions. I was too sore and intimated about even the pathetic amount of walking needed. SO, take one bus, go to bank. Ride second bus back one stop. Go to CVS and then lather rinse repeat. Wait for the48 so I did not even have to walk anywhere to catch the 8. Embarrassing to feel so fragile and achy. But at least I carried home another gallon of distilled water. Tomorrow I will go to...

Rasputin (Boney M.) | EPIC ORCHESTRAL COVER

Image
This earworm invocation dedicated to a certain world leader who is being even more of an international embarrassment than average. The kindest point: at 80 NO ONE is expected to party until late at night, bound onto a plane a scant few hours later and keep track of where they are or who they are with. Will someone PLEASE cue #DonSnoreleone in that he deserves genteel retirement with as many naps as he needs? Anyway, this was a plenty of sleep but not enough exercise day for me. PT SORT OF counts but one knee is objecting to weight bearing exercise also known as WALKING. 7:24 hours of sleep.

Artists, writers and their cats

Image
Because ONE OF THESE DAYS my apartment will be clean and sane enough for a cat of my very own 3:32 hours of sleep. Speaking of going to bed too late, waking up too early, and being afraid to go back to bed because of appointment. Dishes got washed.  I got a shower. I did part of my exercises. PARTY

20 high protein plant foods

Image
I already eat a lot of these and it's too hot to think about too much cooking complexity.  8:24 hours of sleep followed by 2 hours of "CLutter Support" HELP.  I needed the sleep and the help and now we have a plan. And it is a light day for PT And I have not offered to lend out siblings in a few days. It's historically early in the year for Seattle temps to hit 90 but here we are.

Green Eye Optical illusions

Image
Speaking of green eyes...fascinating. 4:32 hours of sleep. And awake so early I got through MOST of laundry before the sun got hot and the glare got so strong it was hard to read the washing machine dial. Party

The Plant that revived New Zealand after generations of human assaults

Image
ANother just let nature do her stuff item 6:20 hours of sleep followed by 4+ hours of Zoom with bed head I skipped a picnic but made some food ahead of hot days coming.

Bean curry: spice palette for beans on the menu

Image
Cool trick: Soak beans in salted water so they soften faster then drain the brine before next steps 4:54 hours of sleep. I have not been very far outside in days and I still am not going anywhere tomorrow. Things that get in the way of sleep. GRIEF! Tricks to help nostalgia for sleeping in a recliner chair on the deck of a Scandinavian ferry even if one's body would not tolerate that.

GREEN EYES

Image
This video is fun because there are two different mechanisms driving the prevalence of green eyes, functions associated wtih vitamin D synthesis in the parts of Northern Europe where green eyes are more common and on the other hand social selection in Central Europe all the way to Turkey and the Punjab   6:00 hours of sleep. The resistance bands I ordered came but they are going to have to air out because otherwise there are going to be latex allergy issues. Cough is still very hacky.

The Navaho! Migration. DNA

Image
This fascinating meander through the geography and history of different DNA and linguistic patterns is one reason I did not go to bed at anything like a reasonable hour. Other than that, a recent Windows update is giving my fave accessibility tools hiccups. MLEAH. And I miss 9 pm phone calls with Mom. Double MLEAH 4 ish hours of sleep. We will not discuss from when to when. I am still exhausted and congested in my chest. MLEAH.

Bodega cats RULE

Image
Legalize Bodega cats, essential for rodent control Maybe my building needs a free ranging cat or two. 5 ish hours of sleep. Chocolate covered almonds and pizza after 9 pm, um....

There is no Pulitzer Prize for satire--or board games...or revenge Canadian style

Readers get to click on the link your own selves. Cope   Canadian teenagers invented the most unhinged board game, and I need you to see it. 4:24 hours of sleep 5 loads of laundry. And I can't bleeping find my new resistance bands.

Istanbul: city of cats, 200,000+ of them

Lots of segments in Turkish(?) with subtitles 6:10 hours of sleep. Chicken soup with extra celery and black pepper at 4 am REALLY helped. Cold is slowly getting better

Khachapuri recipe in English, funky English but English

Khachapuri

Ahhh. Memories of trip to Leningrad / StPB. A long way from Georgia but street food or served a t a restaurant with a green sode called khartun A bit of this in Russian, a lot in Georgian with English subtitles. I will look for a recipe with more of the recipe easy to pull out. 4:24 hours of sleep. I forgot to track my exercises yesterday. So today but the count of reps and sets is still on the work up to curve. Still feeling pretty dragged out but better enough today for some kitchen work. Will I go do laundry now OR will I fuss with email???

Stuffed Cabbage with Jacques Pepin years ago

Cool way to peel the tough part of asparagus Great chef. starting with prosaic ingredients 6:00 hours of sleep. I HAVE A COLD. I went to bed early-ish because of it but then got up an hour or so later to...eat soup. That helped!. The cold is about where it usually is at this point. A couple more days and things should be back to normal ish.

The tales cat DNA tells

Image
Hah! More push to acquire another kitty. 5:30 hours of sleep including a nap. I woke up too early and had to stay awake long enough to call and cancel and eye appointment.  I hate pollen, but at least I know it's pollen and not, say, a brain tumor. Other than that, after tripping over the sidewalk last night, I m not super fond of gravity.  HOpefully new PT will help hold bones together...

Resistance bands. Now about logging the exercises

Image
Why oh why are these all stuck in one sewn-together loop?  4:58 hours of sleep. Even though it's June blankets feel good. Running the fan at night all year may be a bit of an eccentricity, but I like it.

I will survive--in French with medieval instruments

Image
This may be a repeat. I don't care. I like it. My french is negligible. I still like it. 6:02 hours of sleep. It took me a bit to stay asleep. I think I overdid the new PT for the first day and I finally had to get up, eat a banana, and take an ibuprofen.  I am also figuring out the recording app and which of the 3x / week exercises to do in what order. Porridge. Dishes. Android class: to much of teacher talking. Not enough let the device talk. Sigh. MAYBE laundry.
